the injectors are simultaneously fired twice per engine cycle on startup

but once running the injectors revert to sequential firing once per engine cycle.

JP if you can give some sort of guarantee that you will be able to tune

my car when it is done, would you let me send it up to you, tune it, then send it back at my cost obviously?

    Thanks

Nothing wrong with my MicroTech, it's going fine (tuned by Ben at UAS).

    Yeah its big

But done right the first time as opposed to having a dodgy build and then having to take it to UAS to get it done right the 2nd time. And before anyone says I should do the work myself, i'm pretty sure I'd be the dodgiest builder of em all! haha (also working 12-16 hours a day, and no tools, know how and space to work on it makes it a bit hard) :)

    Easy

We can tune it no problem but can't guarantee super smooth same as factory but in most applications you would never know.
Another angle is we have had quite a few blame Microtech or other computers when turned out to be a tuning issue or other non related issues with the car. There are much better computers than Microtech such as Autronic and Motec, but at over twice the price plus install is a huge job compared to plug in and install intake temp sensor and play, it is not in the ball park with price and convenience. Autronic with CDI installed nice and tuned properly looking at about $5k and Motec keep going.

I will not be franchising as such but will be cautiously appointing and working with workshops and retail shops, with proper premises to be agents or outlets for us. I have had problems in the past and not so easy or appropriate. We are just a phone call or email away though and give advice for free to our customers. We recently sold a plug in Microtech to a guy in Adelaide who has called us numerous times and I have taken Ben our tuner off tools a few times to talk to him re set up and tuning. Some don't think about service when they buy a product but in some cases like computers and engine parts etc can be very valuable. Cheaper is not always cheap in the long run hey?

Yeah the job Johns done looks fantastic! I would be down at UAS

more often if I didnt live in the boonies and need the car.

I think motec was nearly 7k all up

installed, tuned and with the traction control/full throttle shifting/antilag package. Even more if you want datalogging, wideband 02 etc but the list of options goes forever including remote telemetry, every sensor under the sun etc.

Yeah i got a price of about $6k, but then again most of the features I woul

d never use unless the car was a stand alone drag car. As far as tuning goes, all decent ECU's are similar and after all, it all comes down to your a/f and ignition adjustments which even cheap bolt on systems like the safc, ifc, emanage etc and avcr can do extremely well.

As far as the motec goes, the only real feature I want from it is the traction control but then the racelogic system isn't that expensive and I will probably just buy that going from the feedback users have had with it.

Such a big decision to make :p

    Telementry

I dream of getting this one day as then I would have surely arrived. Ben my main tuner and I talk about it all the time, him sitting there in the grand stand with his lap top tuning and logging whilst Im am either drag or circuit racing. It is banned in high level motorsport for good reason. There are some advanatages of not being in the big league racing.

    Aftermarket ECU's

I do the changes myself using the standard ECU and change the maps on the chips. There is a great site that shows you how to program chips, ie. fuel maps, timing, cutouts etc. Just burn the chips and put them in your ECU and try them out. A dyno would be much better to test them, but I don't have that option. It's a great way to learn how ECU's work. Some may have different opinions and I'm no expert, but I did the EFI course at TAFE and it's fun to put it into practice..

Can't Ben sit in the boot under cover with the laptop??

    What is telementry?

It sounds like its just remote on the fly tuning, is that correct? I dont understand why it'd be banned from high level motorsport though.

    Can someone tell me

Can you, for example, run a S-AFC2 instead of upgrading your chip when you upgrade to bigger injectors? So if you wanted to install 555cc injectors could you make no other changes other than install a S-AFC?

I beleive you can but im no 100%

I started out down that road

but unless you have unlimited free access to a dyno, it is impractical, unless you know in great detail how to change the maps, and do it quickly. dyno shops charge by the hour.

I think it is more practical to find a dyno shop that has an expert in tuning your chosen aftermarket ECU, and use them.

    Apparently not....

I asked this question of a tuner and apparently they arent all equal. There is a lot in both their processing power and the algorythms they use to calculate the fuel injection. All ECUs use points every 500 rpm to map but its what they do with that information afterwoods that makes the difference. I dont know any of the details but thats what was explained to me.

I would like to research into that a bit more, I understand what your sayin

g because I learn about it all in my course 'computer/embedded systems engineering'.

You would be amazed at some of the things you can do with even the simplest uP's when you know what you are doing. Although there isn't a whole heap going on when calculating mixtures when compared to how newer car features operate, so it would be interesting to read more about.

If I come across any info I will post it up.
