If I am getting spark, could I still have a dud PTU?

OK, latest on my prob. I am getting spark and fuel. But still wont start. Cleaned CAS and PTU connections. No error codes. Have not done a PTU continuity test yet(tomorrow).

I have pulled apart the PTU and to my eye there are no broken connections, even tried moving them with a pair of tweezers.

QUESTION- If I am getting spark, could I still have a unworking PTU?

YES, When I forst got my Z32, I had all sorts of problems starting it.

I was so sure it wasnt the PTU I had spark on all the plugs etc.

Finally changed it. Started first go !!! very baffling.

I have to agree with Tek ..

I had problems starting the car for a while ... thought was coolant temp sensor and connectors ..

I was then unable to start the car but would start fine with a roll start ... still had spark after the roll start to keep driving fine .. when warm ...

I have now dropped a cylinder and have concluded yes it is the PTU ...

Have lost a cylinder myself. Cleaned PTU connectors and coil connectors.

Still no change. Sent to workshop to replace coil pack and check spark plug and still missing (there is a spark but no fire). The answer l'm getting back (from Nissan), is it's either a blocked injector (they say it is clicking open and closed) or there is a burnt out valve. My symptoms sort of seem similar to the above problems. I'd like to know your thoughts on this and see if anyone has a spare PTU l can swap, just to see if it fixes the problem. Thanks. DSCM.

Are you getting spark to all cylinders?

Yes, "all" cylinders have spark. Cyl 6 the only one not actually firing.

are you sure it's not firing?

I thought the same at first until I pulled the injector connector instead of the coil connector, the cylinder was actually firing without spark.

There is a spark, but cylinder giving nothing. Probably blocked injector.

Thought l'd just feel around to see what other things people suggested, before l go and get the injector cleaned. Thanks.

Wykked did Consult and Nissan did diagnostic and showed same result.

Nissan said they couldn't tell if it was a blocked injector or if the valve had burnt out. They would require a plenum pull to check injector and then dig deeper if they found no problem there. I just wanted to check the option on the PTU being at fault, before l started spending stupid money.
