Hey guys i just finished putting in my Zed motor and it is all running sweet. Well it was running even better it would purr with no smoke at all out of the exhausts. Now when the car is cold it blows really bad blue smoke and u can smell oil. as soon as its warm the smoke stops completely not a sign of smoke what could be causeing this......
if it is blue, it is oil which isn't good. Could be your piston rings and w hen the engine warms up, they expand slightly along with everything else and tighten up. Do a cold compression test on all the cylinders. Whatever one returns a low reading, pour some oil down where the spark plug goes 'take it out obviously' and if the comp goes higher on the next shot I think that is your rings.
OR the alternative, this is the one you should have your fingers crossed for.. its possible you have really shit oil in there (mixed oils) or a really lw velocity oil on a semi tired engine.. try a full oil change on some valvoline full syn.
What was the motor out for >> in the first place. Before you go replacing parts etc. Did you rebuild the motor or turbo's. Did you lube the piston walls if you did a rebuild.? With insufficient information provided, its dam near impossible to give you some sort of acurate response to your question. Cheers Kerry
engine is out of 93 half cut 80000 k's showing injectors where changed nothing else was changed car didnt blow blue smoke for the first week we had it in and now it is, it dosnt blow any smoke at all under boost which makes me think its not the tubos but u never know
not neccesarily lloyd...depends if it's exhaust or intake side of..> the turbo. If the oil seal on the exhaust side goes then you just get smoke, there'll be no oil in the intake lines.
Andy, if it's on the exhaust side, it won't stop for any reason.... other than running out of oil of course, but the story seems to suggest that it stops when the car warms up. I think I can speak with some authority on this issue.:LOL::LOL::embarrassed::embarrassed:
Could be clogged up PCV valves, these tend to make lots of blue smoke, then when warmed up won't do it at all.
Oh i don't argue your authoritah lloyd  just perhaps speaking from personal experience. It's how mine went. Exhaust seal started to go, had smoke while cold but it disapeared once i put some heat into the engine. Over time tho it did become a continued stream of oil. Now RESPECT MAH AUTHORITAH!!
