    hello all,
Does anyone know how much it would cost to get the original zed seats redone in whatever material?

I got quoted a while back..

It was around $1300 to retrim the front and back seats in leather..

Not sure about other materials but they'd be a lot less than that for sure.

    I made the same enquiry

just the other day and was told that I would be looking at about 400-450 per front seat in leather and did not ask about the rear .This was not by an Upolstery (spelling) guy but the car yard dude I bought my car off .

    cracked leather seats?

If the seats are all cracked, does this mean the leather has to be replaced/retrimmed.

That price sounds pretty good. I dont really like the black leather on my zed, its kinda hard and its got very fine cracks but the hardness of the leather is was i dont like. You can fool plp with vinyl and get away with it as being leather so you wont really feel cheap. Where about in nsw is the best for jobs like this... anyone know?

there's not much you can do when your seats are cracked...

can get them stiched and touched up, etc, but it will never look the same.... i've got really bad splits in my seats... probably go the retrim in 2tone leather next year. or maybe get aftermarket bride seats... i like the stock zed seats though.

and i want electric passenger side seat! are they electric on the aussie spec?

    I would avoid vinyl

Vinyl WILL crack over time and will not last as long as leather. Most of the money for re-upholstery is the labour so better to spend a bit more and get leather which will wear better and last longer. I had mine covered in a Warwicks "Macrosuede" fabric which is really hard wearing and a bit cooler than leather on hot days.

    wow that looks quite nice...

but i do like leather ;)

how much did that cost you JT?

has anyone got more pics of retrimmed zed seats?

labour for the full interior was about $900 + fabric cost.

Macrosuede fabric is normally $85 per meter x 7 meters required = $595. Im in the industry so cost alot less for me:) As a comparison vinyl can be bought for about $10 per meter X 7 = $70 all up. You only need about 2 or 3 meters for those ebay vinyl interior kits (without seats ) so $20-$30 cost max, cut them to size and sell them for a huge markup.

I'm sure there's something you can use

to soften up your leather seats.. I haven't really looked into it but we got instructions with our leather couch to use a damp cloth on it once / week and I know there's a bunch of products for leather maintenance.

    That's real nice.

That's one for me to consider as I'd like to avoid leather/vinyl seats.

That looks like the exact material I imagined getting, a dream come true.

Why don't you hook us up with someone where we can buy the materials and we can then have a perfered installer in every state (if possible) in order to get cheaper installation prices....

I got quoted $2000 for italian leather. It was to do all my door trims and seats... It was a guy in Burwood on parramatta road. He is pretty good.. I have seen his work many times over, and he does a real top job... So maybe just maybe if we can get the material cheap then we may be able to approach one of these guys to cut out the templates and install..

    Just a thought. No Pressure..

I might be interested and ive think i know the place your talking about. There is a couple good shops in sydney like gtrim but im not sure about there pricing. I think this is a great idea , get the material cheap and also if we get a couple of guys getting it retrimed at the same shop then further decrease in cost. Keep me posted on this. cheers

    wild goose chase

yeah i went everywhere in Bendigo to try and find some materials for my car...

Spotlight had black suede for $12.95m and also a material called chamois in black, navy and tan...has anyone ever heard of this material i think it looks alright to put in a car...

Also went to Bendigo Trimmers who sell "Marine vinyl" it's a lot thinger then the vinyl i used in my car that was $26m, and the glue they use is only $6 a Litre...so i might grab some of that..

    what do you guys think?
