I am wanting to install a subwoofer into my 2+2.
I had a bit of a search both here and at TT.net and it appears I can use a stealthbox (if I was rich), what styles of boxes have you guys made etc?

I will get you photo's as soon as i get my bloody car back

The panel beaters are all having a little chrissy break and i am having trouble getting the MINOR work i asked for done in time

BUT we custom build wood frames then produced fibreglass molds from that, so really you can make what you want ??? Steven with the ferrari tail lights has seen my subs and custom work, mostly all hidden

They were going to start off flat and just above the rear suspension (2 seater) then my mates got bored of the minimalist view on everything i have (yeah especially when hiding everything from cops and theifs) so they suprised me by changing our frame and made 1/4 circle boxes that sit up behind the front seats... man i can't wait to get photo's, this questions been popular lately

Anyway i found everything real easy except the sub boxes and got my mates in to help... rear speakers, built custom brakets and it all fits in perfectly into the old interior to within mm either side, got 6x10 in the rear 4ways... got 2 10" peerless subs with brainvibrator amp, with peerless 6" infront and seperate splits and DVD player with front speaker running dolby5.1... amp runs about 1100amp and the subs i got set up (can run 1200amp) won a sound off in a mates car against a lot of 12"subs.
The sound in the Z right now is like concert level and i actually run the bass at -1 most of the time
as the bass is just incredible

Showed Steven and the guys who went up old pacific highway ages ago, and they didn't mind watching the car DVD's while we were parked between stages ???
Since i was doing all the work and mates knew the right people to get their hands on the equipment, it all turned out real nice and cheap too in the end...
just lots and lots of beer and hair pulling getting everything to look smik and almost factory type look

Keep in mind, just finished instal... still real dusty & things still off

BUT the idea is there.... looks real hidden from the front etc... only once you open the back can you see it really well... so got more close up shoots like these

    NOT TOO OBVIOUS
SEE IF YOU CAN SEE THEM BEHIND SEATS... Not to High etc

    AAD00R, that is INSANE!!!

I mean that in the are u crazy way, more than the that looks awesome way.

Are you telling me u have 2 ten inch subs right behind your head and your passenger's head?

You have a 2 seater, the question was for a 2+2. I don't think that setup works in a 2+2. But if it does, I'm gonna give it a go behind the rear seats. I don't think I'm crazy enuf to rest my head 10cm away from a 10" subwoofer.

That's the reason why you're 10" setup is beating the 12" set ups.

How does a fibreglass enclosure sound? I'm a bit of purist when it comes to audio. I'm most likely going to use wood, because of convenience and sound quality.

HAHAAH ...That's right Spacefrog....I am Crazy

The subs are more like Neck level hehehe but yes still pump your brain full of noise... i could only get real close up pictures as it was dark and had to use flash and ahhhh... looks much better in person then on camera, and i will try to get better pictures from a little further away

There is actually more room there then you think ???

I was going to go behind the seats, but not enough room in 2 seater... i did say it might not work in a 2+2 but, then again if i had one, with my crazy friends we'd have some sort of crazy setup done anyway hehehe

Getting car some time this week... can't wait to enter it into a sound comp... the peerless are so crystal clear they blow 12" subs away

Little crazy but tell ya what... no one has complained so far, just the neighbours hehehe
i had the car parked at a friends party in the garage, we had people complain from 5 houses down, the bass just carriesssssss down the street =)

I am looking at going three ways. Something will need to happen soon, cos having a loose autobahn box floating around in the zed isnt working so good.

    1. I will remove the rear seats and build an enclosure in there?

    2. I will put a false floor in the boot, just below the level of the cargop blind and mount sub(s) in their. This would mean i have no boot left but i can store stuff in the rear seat if need be?

    3. Trying to build an enclosure down the side of the boot, behind the shock towers, so that I can still put the targa tops in the space left in the middle of the boot. The targas are more or less all I ever put in there anyway.

you could build a sub box or two to be the 'rear passengers' and strap them in with the seat belts. you'll still have use of your rear seats if needed :)

My Custom Install - PICS Inside...

Here are a few shots of my install.

I finished most of it last weekend...it took me around 3 weekends to make - and a big headache afterwards... :)

But it was worth it...pumps pretty hard...have to turn the subwoofer setting on my deck to -2 because it's just too loud... ;)

    boot space :p

you obviously don't need boot space as your install effectively eliminates it :p

If I need to cart things around in my boot, I have my other car for that...The Zed is my weekender/hobby car. :D

    sub enclosure specs

I just recently got my hands on a pair of Sony Xplod 12"s model XSL1220 and the box that they came with dosen't fit properly in my zed, i had to lay the rear seats down and fit the box in sideways so i was just wondering if anyone has made up their own boxes to fit in the back of a zed or some sort of easier configuration. My zed is my daily so i don't want to loose all boot room and i can make the enclosures myself, all i need are the specs and i want to get a nice sound from the subs as i'm told a good enclosure can do wonders for the subs

hmm.. not quite what im after more like oz's. is that a sealed box..

in the back? Maybe you already know but if it is youll need to have a dividing wall between the 2 otherwise youll end up stuffin them due them trying to push and pull at the same time..?
    cheers
