Was pretty good i thought. Does anyone know if its the latest series??? Must be i assumed from the cars. The Monaro copped a bagging at first but finished being a good thing for them. I thought the 300C hemi looked good and is a nice package for the price, I would definately choose one over a V8 stateman or LTD which is a more fairer comparism than what was basically a HSV GTO and HP Jag, buy being a UK based show cant really do this i suppose. Cant wait for next weeks show.
That show must have an incredible budget. The Monaro arrived at the beach in a military cargo plane, WFT! While in London I noticed this show is played during prime time Sunday evening so it must score high ratings. It's even popular with the women over there!
its also hosted through torrents all over the net and watched all over the world, indeed a popular show because they dont do bullshit tests, and they dont have gay scripted things to say like the aus equivilant wiht some guy and girl who know jack shit about cars and just say what theyre told to say.. also they arent afriad to bag a car if its crap.. especially funny when the gear knob on the porche came off
agree that comparison with 300c, and monaro/jag was not really fair. jag/monaro are similar enough, but 300c is purely a luxury cruiser. and whats with testing cars on sand? not really designed for that (though did make for good watching). otherwise great show.
It must be difficult coming up with original ideas for each episode Hence the reason for testing on the sand. That's my reasoning.
To answer the original question.... I believe SBS are currently showing season 5. Season 6 was earlier this year and season 7 is up to episode 5....they just tested the Bugatti Veyron...drool......downloading the episode now....can't wait to see what jeremy has to say. In season six they take out the new monaro and see if its as good as the model tested in last nights episode.....then they go drifting in it with a D1 racer.....awesome! Paul
Top, really interesting show ! I thought the Jag turned up in the Herc. not that it matters, it was still impressive. I was surprised at how well they rated the Monaro.
The episode last night i believe was Season 5 Season 6 ended a while ago and its currently up to season 7 episode 5. I just watched the latest episode and it features the Bugatti Veyron...worlds fastest street car i think. 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds!!!! 1000bhp coming from 2 4L v8 Engines with 4 turbo chargers!!! LOL!!! top LIMITED speed of 250mph!!! unbelieveable, and it looks great!
I love top gear.... and have taken delivery of my 2006 Chrysler 300C about 2 weeks ago. I must say an absolutely beautiful car, with a heap of power. The hemi V8 really unleashes when you go WOT. I only just clocked up 1000km's and it is starting to loosen up nicely. Obviously I can't keep cars standard for too long, so I have ordered my 22" x 10" Intro Billet rims from the states, should be here mid Jan, along with my Billet Grill and Coil Overs Very pimp'n car with luxury touches everywhere. Big change from the ZX for me.
Re: I love top gear.... I agree 100%...I also love how much they played up the sterotypical aussie thing with the monaro being occa etc.:LOL:
Hey Pimp300 Would love to see some before and after shots of your 300C. Im seriously thinking of one for the family having just had a baby. But will prob have to wait for a 2nd hand one in a year or so. How do you find the economy with the 4 cylinders shutting down? I am dying for someone to explain exactly HOW and WHEN this works. Is it just at cruise speeds or does it kick in when idling also? What about just sedate driving/accellaration? Do only 4 cylinders getused or all 8
Displacement on Demand So the new engine should have more power more torque, better fuel economy and better for the environment. Good old push rod. Who said these engines were low tech and ancient.
Hey DZM, will post some pics at some stage. Fuel economy is really good, around town I get approx 500km to $60 PULP. I haven't done any country driving yet but have heard reports of close to 27 mile to the gallon, which is bloody awesome. You can't even tell when the car drops to 4 cyl. It doesn't shut down the same bank of cylinders it alternates. It depends how hard you accellerate to whether the 8 cylinders come back in. If it is only slight accelleration then it will stay on 4 cylinders. For around $70k they are good bang for buck. They look cool standard, but will look 10 times cooler with 22's
