can someone help me with some advise,
im thinking of buying an 89 model 300zx TT auto, it seems
unique with the 320 km/h cluster, leather interior and exhaust system apparantly was imported bout 13 years ago.......problems are :
    1. gun metal grey needs a full respray
    2. one blown turbo
    3. quarter panel damage (repairable)
    3. some ugli interior defects and most likely a good
    tune-up
the price is 5 gz but most likely to make it cheaper!
i spoke to some of my mates who suggest they can get parts for it eg. turbo-$300 spray job-$1500 ?

is it possible to find a manual box easily and how much roughly?

can some one help me out damn it :zlove: thanx

umm.. depends how mechanically minded you and your friend are, technically its an engine out job to replace a turbo (especially drivers side) which can get mighty expensive and if you are planning a manual conversion?? just buy a decent manual in the first place

    Probly Give it a miss.

Probably better to give it a miss. The Zed32 is much harder to work on than the Z31 (I've got one of each at the moment).

I've done a manual conversion on a Z31 and it was a pain in the ass. Apparently there is much more stuff to change on the Z32 as well :/ For instance:

    -Gear Box (duh)
    -Pedals (clutch and brake)
    -Clutch Cylinders.
-Flywheel (probly bushing on the rear of the engine too)
-ECU (apparently you need to swap it)
    -Interior trim.
-There's probly a bunch more stuff besides.

It will almost certainly work out cheaper just buying a manual in the first place. I've seen recent imports for as little as 7 grand so you might want to shop around and see if you can find one thats actually working properly ;)

You asked this same question on Monday

Whats the matter didn't you like the answers you got then? This sounds like one really nasty Z.

You will be buying a heap (and I mean heap) of problems.

Several thousand would need to be spent to get it anywhere near acceptable. Just save some more money and find one that is at least driveable.

You make your choice, but just remember

these cars are hard and not cheap to work on. Turbo alone is a pain in the arse. But if you have the time money and patience, you could make a good car out of it but it will cost!

Tell them to mind their own business John.

Having a zed will help you enjoy your retirement. What better way to get out and see the countryside than cruising in the zed.

I retired 14 years ago and I'm only a "spring chicken"
but there are a lot of "old farts" on this forum, try telling them they are too old to drive a zed  :zlove:

    Exactly Ian:thumbsup::thumbsup:

We should have an "old farts" section on the forum.

But then most of us would forget it was there:wacko:

Hey, John, I didn't buy my Zed until AFTER I retired!

Best car purchase I ever made (from an enjoyment point-of-view).
