Gday all long time no see..anyway readin bout the benefits of the ud pully install and interested in it. Could anyone tell me what i need and perhaps the best place to get em ..West Aussie locals. Cheers People
you'll need three new aux belts to fit pulley, and the pulley itself ofcourse. plenty of cheap UD pulleys on ebay. IMHO, these will be just as good functionally (if not cosmetically) as a brand name item, like an unorthodox racing pulley. can get unorthodox pulley from unique autosport or ttzed.com.
Hey Jess I have one for mine, and i got it installed by Bush Mechanics Co., i.e. Zweet or scotty or BlackiceTT As for the UD pulley i have an unusual one, revspeed i believe its called, and only got it for $100 bucks, if u want i can tell u where i got it from (another forum member) can get them for cheap, and yes u need certain belts, if u want to end up getting the same one as me, i guess u need the same belts, let me know and we'll see what we can do  Mike
Re: Hey Jess something about putting a cheap peice of ally onto the front of my engine and spinning it to 6 and a half thousand rpm and making it pull hard on three belts.. i went for a known and well tested unorthodox racing one.. i didnt think it was time to cheap out on that bit.. got it from conceptZ performance when i bought a 100KK service kit however.. if you are so inclined.. WorkZ auto accessories in bentley have em for around 120 bux
I purchased the Go Fast Bits (GFB) Underdrive Pulley Haven't installed it yet, but it looks the goods and i think it is slightly lighter than the UR pulley... I got it from ModYourCar and they are a WA based company. Cost is $279 which is pretty good. Anodised blue is the shizza
GFB and UR pulleys are the well known brands And also trustworthy. Some cheapies on ebay have been known to have the timing mark in and incorrect position. If you do get a cheapie, make sure it is balanced and the timing mark is correct.
Re: GFB and UR pulleys are the well known brands wouldnt it be cheaper to buy the known one than getting the cheap one balance tested?
i bought a UD pulley off someone on the forum. timing mark was wrong. thats the main thing you want to check for on an ebay pulley, or even more expensive pulleys. some of the early UR pulleys had the mark wrong. just compare with stock pulley to make sure. i took the pulley to a balance shop, and dude didn't even think it was worth testing. because its small, and alloy, he was very certain there would be no balance problems. i insisted, so he rigged it up and sure enough it spun true to a high tolerance. offered him the $10 he was going to charge, but he said not to worry about it . edit: ended up becoming sceptical of the whole under drive pulley concept, so ended up selling it on, and stuck with stock "harmonic damper". hmm..... so who's in for a good ol' for/against UD pulley thread/flame war. we're about due.
Brought UR pully 18 months ago the T mark is correct, havent had the car on the road since,so i cant say what its like to drive with it on,but if i feel one vibration at any rpm its comming off! still not convinced there worthwile!
well i sold mine to graham (tektrader), and he got rid of it soon after installation due to vibrations. others don't have any issues and are more than happy. personally i'm just a bit kinky for damped harmonics. the more damped the better too. as such, i retained the factory item.
ta fellas cheers fellas ..ssup mik..im gettin the 65/35 for the go ahead from u'sall. ill get the cash sorted 4b chris and go for it. How are the gains?
