Just want to drop by and say hi to some of the older members who might know me from a few years back.

I used to own a 2 seater 300zx and had joined some of the club cruises. Some of you might remember I had a brother Gene who used to join us for a trip or two. He was also responsible for stacking my car but was saved by the rollcage that I had in the car. The car was totalled.

Well, on Tuesday morning the 11th of October this year, Gene lost his life in a tragic car accident on a mountain road. The car was going too fast and misjudged a corner. It went straight into the ditch and Gene's side of the car got hammered by the tree. Gene was not the driver, but a passenger holding a Melway.

The driver walked away with bruises, but Gene was not so lucky. I can only pray that he was not suffering before he died.

Gene was 20 years old, his 21st would be next month. It breaks me to tell the story again and again.

The years after he stacked my car, he went into depression for a while, but being the little fighter that he was he was determined to bounce back and even wanted to pay me back. He even got himself a nice car because he was still at uni and juggling a couple of jobs. The way he fought back inspired me and many others. Over 500 people attended his funeral.

I know this sounds like a sob tale and I've been away from this forum for quite some time so I've no idea if people still remembers us.

All I'm saying is take care out there on the road, whether you're a driver or passenger, look out for yourself and for each other. I love cars, but the love has gone now that my brother won't be here to enjoy it with me.

    Sam.

    I'm sorry for your loss

A mate of mine lost control in his sigma (with a chunky V8 in it) yesterday and ended up going across on-coming lanes. A car ploughed into the side of it and it was a write-off. Luckily he was alright but it makes you realise just how fragile life is.

    Stay safe

Sorry to hear of your loss Sam......>>

Of corse we still remember you here, some of us have very long memories. While nothing can be done to bring your brother back, or to speed you over your grief. Lets all hope that his loss helps to slow a few young drivers down who, like all young drivers, believe that they are better then they are, and that it won't happen to them.

Drop by any time Sam, once a Zed owner.....always a Zed owner.

    Thanks mate.

    Thanks.

Here's a small report to the accident :

    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,16882103-1243,00.html

"Gene's death brings Victoria's road toll to 278 for the year, five more than at the same time last year."

That's something for people to think about. I cannot believe the toll was that high.

    What the hell is happening?

    Devestating news!

Hi Sam, you've been missed by many of the members who had the pleasure of knowing you, not least by Lynn and I.
We are utterly devestated by the news of your tragic loss, and there is nothing that can be said( other than to express our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.)
I know you were shattered by the loss of your car, but I bet you would rather lose a 1000 cars than one much-loved brother.
I hope you and your family can come through this tragic event, and find reason to smile and enjoy yourselves in the way your brother would have wanted you to.

You have some adopted family here, so don't forget us, we haven't forgotten you.
    Be strong my friend,

    That is so sad dude....

...I remember reading about your cars demise and thinking about all the hassles you and your brother would be in.

Rip :( (your brother, not the car)
