Just wondering on any suggestions for stuff to do in Adelaide. Me and a couple of mates will be over between Friday the 2nd of December and Monday the 5th...

Keeping in mind we're all low 20's, any ideas on places to go, things to see.
We'll have an apartment in the middle of the city.

    Cheers guys,

    Ollie

Would love to cruise, but we're flying over, so won't have our cars.
Pubs or clubs, we're into both doesn't bother us at all.
We've been told Glenelg is the place to be during Summer so will definately be spending some time there.

Thanks, for the info. Anyone else?

    Cheers,

    Ollie

    Friday night I'd say town

Saturday town, anywhere off Rundle street is good pubs wise, the Elephant is pretty good. Clubs who knows, not really my scene. Sunday definitely Glenelg but be prepared to be early or line up if the weather is nice

I knew I could count on this forum, not only do we have and endless stream of knowledge on cars here...

we also have an endless supply of knowledge on the best places to get pissed in every state of Australia... and a not so suprising interest in furthering our research of these establishments!

Thanks, heaps for the info guys, I'll keep it in mind when we come over.

If anyone else has any other information, that would be great.

    Cheers,

    Ollie

    Adelaide is great

Havnt been there for about 8-10 years but I found it was a laid back cool city but still had a healthy pub/club scene...not a rat-race like Syd, Melb or Brizzy!! We saw Suzanne Vega playing at a pub when we were there(the red lion hotel or something??) One thing I never forget was that the drivers were courteous..they give way rather than cut you off at every opportunity. Very noticable difference in attitude compared to Melb drivers. Hope things havn't changed too much since then, it's my fave Aus city!

    I agree - great city.

I was there briefly on Saturday collecting my Soarer (but that's another story) and I must agree - I had a few issues of being in the wrong lane and having to be a bit of a nuisance, but the drivers all around were very laid back and courteous. Mind you, I was not unimpressed with the West of Victoria either - nice towns, friendly drivers, good roads and spectacular coastal scenery. I drove the Soarer from Adelaide airport to the Spirit of Tas terminal and then home to Hobart in a couple of days. I used 1 tankful of juice between Mt Gambier (SA) and Oatlands (Tas) a distance of 774 kms. That's better that 10km/l as a Soarer has a 75 l tank. Pretty impressive for a 4 litre V8!

A long story - but the short part of it is that I will sell my Z soon :(

Our house has only one thing wrong with it - it only has 1 garage.
Over the years, I've been the "owner" of the garage for one Z or another, but now my wife, who just recently has become a car enthusiast, has a brand new P/T Cruiser, I'm not happy about seeing $30,000+ worth of her car just sitting in the driveway, and I want her to have the garage. My Z being a r** one, will deteriorate rapidly if parked outside, and will soon no longer be (what I believe) is one of the best Aus-Specs around. We have no room to build a carport or another garage, so I recently decided to look for a car which I would care less about and that was less likely to deteriorate than a r** Z. I wanted something sporty, 2+2, comfortable and with no sunroof/TTops and with the promise of long term keepability. After testdriving a Soarer, I decided one of these was a possibility to fulfill this role. I looked at two in Hobart, both V8's, one for $22000 and another for $17000. The $22000 one was too dear, and the cheaper one was being sold by a total dropkick of a dealer who wouldn't even look at my Zed and basically told me to stop wasting his time unless I had the cash to buy it outright. So I turned to the web, where, for $8500, I picked up a very nice V8 Soarer in Adelaide. We flew to Adelaide on Saturday, arriving about 1pm, where we met the seller and after a quick look over, I bought the car. Quick lunch in Adelaide, then fuel up and off to Mt Gambier. The long drive brought up a few minor (?) issues, but all in all I think I got a very good deal, although it's going to need front tyres and suspension bushes plus 1 or two minor electrical fixes. We stayed Saturday night at Mt Gambier, then fueled up again and off to Melbourne, partly via the Great Ocean Road, but as we were running short of time we turned North to Colac before getting to Apollo Bay. Arrived just in time for the Ferry, and the following day we arrived home. The trip would have been fantastic in a Z - the soarer was rather scarey as the suspension issues had it all over the road on uneven surfaces. Add to this 2 messages on the digital dash which were in orange Kanji - what were they telling me? They looked significant. However I couldn't find anything that looked dramatically wrong so we just drove on. Once home, checked a few Soarer sites and found that the messages were "blown taillight bulb" and "low coolant level". The 2nd sounds serious, but it's actually measuring the top 20mm or so in the little header tank above the radiator, and when I checked this there was always plenty of coolant present. Apparently the sensor fails - this is really common and most Soarer owners just disconnect it and rely on the engine coolant temp gauge. Anyway, the temp was excellent throughout the trip so I wasn't worried.

To sum up - I'll really miss my Zed - but I will feel better about using the Soarer as a day-to-day car and leaving it out in the weather, as it represents far smaller an investment and isn't so exotic. I'll stay in the club, because I probably haven't owned my last Zed and I'd like to keep in touch with all my friends on this forum.

twisty - despite all the clubs, pubs, resturants and strip clubs, most fun you can have is up in adelaide hills on a motorbike or a well tuned car (such as zx ;)). shame you won't be bringing yours with you coz a stint through adelaide hills is something i highly recomend to anyone passing through our lazy city.

tassiezed - that doesn't strike me as a reason enough to get rid of the z. there are plenty of prducts out ther that would protect the paint...
    must be a sad day...

It's not an easy decision - but its not just the paint either

The interior is near perfect, the seals, window frames, headliner, dash etc likewise. It looks near new and has only 140,000 easy kms on it with 3 owners, all "mature" in age. I suspect I won't sell it easily or for the price I want, as it's an NA.

After watching my previous 300zx's (a z31 turbo)trim, , basically fall apart after a month parked outside in the Summer sun, I don't want to see this happen to my Z32.

P/T Cruiser, Huh, should've kept the Zed in the Garage...........

Remember, Your Zed was at least $85,000+ when New and IMHO should live in the Garage instead of a P/T Cruiser. Hard luck mate, hope you enjoy your new 'boat' oops I meant 'ride' cheers.
