hey there i purchased an interior retrim kit off ebay...

and the precut kits are pretty sh*thouse. Some of the bits didnt even fit, the seller claims that he wanted me to measure out every single piece that didnt fit, and mail it to him along with samples of my colour etc... and by the time this had all gone by i could not be bothered leaving negative or neutral feedback. He said a few of the kits he sold in Australia people had claimed pieces didnt fit.

also the ones that do fit, dont have enough overhang, so is a very tedious and timeconsuming task.

however, the kits are of very high quality thick vinyl. a retrim with this kind of material would be beautiful.

anyway i ended up down at a warehouse that sells automotive vinyl, bought all the materials needed and high quality vinyl for around $70 along with contact cement which the motor trimmers use, heaps better than the spray adhesive the ebay guy reckons to use.

also you will need a heat gun to mould all the materials along the curves, be careful doing this not to stretch too far and leave funny kind of wrinkles.

Also, doors are near impossible to do well yourself, took a motor trimmer many many hours to do the job well.

Honestly steer clear of ebay retrim kits, or ask the guy for much more overhang on the pieces. and take your time, that is the single most important thing to do.

thats about all the advice i can give you on the subject.

    good luck.

    How much vinyl

    Gday
Reading the thread with interest as i was also looking at the trim kit on eBay.
How much vinyl would be needed to cover most of the interior trim, including enough for a generous overlap and a few mistakes?
and do you just peel off the old hessian covering?
    cheers

3 metres by 1.8 or whatever they supply it in i think it might be 1.6m

is how much I used, and thats with a couple of stuff ups, id personally go 4 m to do doors as well, its a lot of material trust me.

yes you just pull of the tweed cloth they stick onto the plastic mouldings. one word of advice, be very careful when peeling the top layer of cloth off the console lid not to rip off the soft foam that is underneath, and dont make mistakes when applying the new vinyl, becos you could rip off the soft top of it and that would not be pretty.

i found a couple lies in your reply

1- you cannot get the material i sell anywhere, 2- i offered you to take pictures of the pieces so i can fix the problem and will send you a free replacement, that way you help yourself and all other members, but you refused. 3- if you were serious you would have just returned the kit for a FREE replacement 4- if you used the right glue, you would have notice that the material stretch another 1". 5- i'm not saying you are a liar, but, you never proved to me that the kit did not fit. i love to help everybody out and i sure would have help you out
