My airflow meter has burned out, it is the second one to do it in the last 6 months. Does anyone know a likely cause of this. Maybe harness shorting or ecu. I don't want to have to go on replaceiong airflow meters. Another question, is anyone able to rebuild airflow meters.

What exactly do you mean by burnt out? As in your getting an error code from it or it reads no A/F?

Will it try to turn over or completely do nothing when you turn the key?

If the Later, could be short circuit?

The car will turn over it just won't start. That is with the af meter plugged in.

Any other info? This is the second one to 'go dead'. How long did this 2nd afm last? Were you trying to put in a new air filter or something?

The second airflow meter was put on about 5 months ago, I have done 1500km's. It has been untounched since then. I was out on the weekend parked my car it has been running perfectly. When I came back about 30mins later the car wouldn't start. I limped it home by disconecting the af meter, only get 2400rpm( I believe this is normal).

Fluke that two have died on you but I wonder if it

has anything to do with your filter...possibly letting too much crap flow thru which is burning out the hot wire?

    Check that the power

to the AFM turns off when the ignition is turned off

Check that the AFM & filter are not

    Vibrating excessively in the wind.
