hey can anyone tell me (mark hehe) what has happened to my beloved???? i was just pulling out of the servo and all of a sudden my power steer went all heavy, the dash lights all went crazy as if the alternator wasnt being charged and the water temp started going up quite rapidly.....pulled over and there was this grinding noise coming from the front of the engine and the fan was going fast then slow, fast then slow...any ideas??? i am thinking maybe the fan clutch or something
got any toilet paper? sorry mate, just kidding something similar happened to my car a while back and the engine just stopped and smoke started pouring out(i nearly shit my self)then i worked out that my airconditioning pump had siezed. Try turning the climate control off.
climate control wasnt on at the time it happened so i dont think it was that but you never know i could be wrong
hmmm 2 things...1, could be your thermostat. This got me. I even had a post on it here a few months back. 2. past your 100km service? need new belts etc? i had same issue after i had a head on crash and got my car back from insurance. 3 lights come up. battery, lights and soem squiggly one. cat temp sensors or something i think it is. Anyway it was the clutch plate fan. Was disintegrated. Wasnt bolted / connected properly!
Alternator seized a bearing / fan belt broke? Take some photos down there with a torch and let us know what you find? Both water pump and alternator driven from same belt...
chili ... mmm .. if you were able to find one, you could do a real machine polish job on it ( ala the mbc brace )and add some real bling to your zed ...!!!:thumbsup::wacko:
RE: Clutch fan...bling. But Baz, then I would have to fit the optional Clear Kevlar Bell Housing, or no-one would ever get to see it. Come to think of it, it would also require me to run-over pedestrians on a regular basis (so that someone would get a look at it), or put it up on a hoist (but at $98 an hour, that would soon become untenable).:unsure::wacko:
How'd you get on? I came out looking for you at the breakdown spot later and you obviously got it going...
Could be the water Pump shiting itself. Check and see if any water is dripping out from the inspection hole. That would explain the hi temp seen. And the lights going crazy. as it would easly stop the Alt, or and other device on the same Belt. Cheers Anthony
