Cause im thinking of doing this.. and im wondering if there is any need for modification or if they can be placed straight on somewhere and what size struts were used... any info welcome!! Thanx
I've thought about it but I cant see any room between the bonnet and the body where the cyclinders will sit when it is closed. The bonnet is not to heavy either, the VN Commodore bonnet does not have struts and is heavier than the Zed but all models after it came with struts.
I have thought about it, but since it's aluminium, there is a risk that you'd bend it trying to close it.
Yes, the bonnets are alloy......>> Although I have come accross a few steel ones from time to time. Not sure but I believe they may be cheap aftermarket copies that have been used after accidents.
R any other panels aluminium? thats real good to know  so this me means that the bonnet wont rust and it should be lighter? excellent :zlove:
bonnet i,ve owned 3 bonnets and 2 of them where alloy and 1 of them was steel, may of begin an option at the time of production "dont really know" but as for the struts for the bonnet, i reckon 1 strut would be the go and shouldnt have a problem with the weight, just need to find somewhere to install it.
Sure is lighter I always groan when I left up regular bonnets now I'm so used to the lighter Z bonnet. This is the only alloy body part. Ben
re I've thought about it but There was some models of the VN that did have the bonnet struts... eg: HSV models etc... plus like most things on cars its was an option... just like LSD was... Nath
ive heard they use alloy bonnets for wieght reduction thats the case on the new mx5 se turbo, gives the car 50 50 wieght dist.
