Hi Chewy I sent you a PM but you may not have seen it. I was referred to you ref. a 'water' (coolant) level sensor that you might have installed. The current temp gauge that works off the stock water temp sensor is not vey good as first of all you may not notice the needle indicating your engine is cooking, and the sensor does not work unless its touching the coolant. A few members have had coolant burst out of their engines so fast and the gauge still showed normal temp! ........result a seriously damaged engine. I've heard of sensors that work off the radiator hose and will activate a bright flashing light/buzzer. Can you advise where to get one and whether its easy to install ? Cheers
I may be mistaken but i think you are talking about a TWD "Temperature Warning Device" This device indicates with a flashing or i think now audible alert on the dash when a preset temperature is reached, an early indication of possible problems. this device hooks into the ECU. If this is what you are wanting send a PM to K-zed (Rob) as he sells them and can give you more info.
Coolant Level Sensor >> Took a while to find but finally found a repost of it here ... Coolant Level Sensor
Now also as a tech article in Tech Section >Cooling Sys  Thanks JetZX for retrieving this and Chewy for writing it!
Thanks Chewy for the quick reply i'm searching the Net for a simple probe to see the options. This Water LEVEL sensor and K-Zed's TEMP arning Device is what I need. The "A to Z" Overheating article for Z Cars is really excellent too.
Chewey- got the VDO catalogue and the Low Water Level Alarm Kit is just what I'm looking for (Part No. 170.777). How did you install the probe i.e. did you have to drill into place, and if so, which part ..... thermostat housing, hard pipe, etc. I don't think you can do drill into an aluminium radiotor.
