Does anyone know how to measure the oil temp using a sensor and gauage, as a back-up system to the coolant temp gauge ?I heard you can do this through the oil pressure sensor but not sure how to rig this up or where to but the items.

VDO sell a dipstick sensor, or you could

plumb a standard temperature sensor into the sump, and use a corresponding VDO gauge.

You would remove the dipstick and the new sensor would go in place.

Not sure exactly if the VDO sensor is a 'correct length but you could mark a high and low level on it. The electrical connector on top will be removeable to check your oil level. This would be the easiest and probably most expensive way of doing it. Personally I would modify the sump and fit a sensor there.
