Im getting a full kit put on soon and was told because of all the panels getting put on I may aswel get the car resprayed because the only thing their not changing is the bonnet and roof.

Colour schemes I thought are the go, not just for looks but also for something different were:

1)Canary/Banana yellow (The brighter the better)
2)As above but black bonnet and roof (possibly even yellow dodge style strips through the middle)
3)A light green or metallic red with black bonnet and roof
    4)Burnt Orange

Anyone like what I have so far or are there any other ideas??

I'd go with black  Just ask uncle (black) baz ;)

IMO, I wouldn't go with two tone schemes

At the risk of offending any yellow zedders...

I'll put in a vote for not yellow.

    Sorry, just a personal thing.

Can't go wrong with black, that's the tuff colour (Just ask Chino, he'll tell you).

    Failing that, gunmetal grey ;)

Im sorry but if you put dodge strips through the zed

then I will have to personally come and paint over them in the interest of 300s everywhere :)

Personally I really like yellow. Burnt orange looks ok too. Are you getting the engine bay painted to match? Will add a lot more $$ if you pull the engine out to do it, although Im told some people can do a good job with it in.

    Whose doing the work?

A few facts on this matter may help....

Government tests of Zed colour schemes have shown that:

    1. Yellow Zed's are the safest to drive due to high visibility and the pacifying colour

    2. Yellow Zed's go faster due to the relatively low drag coefficient of the paint

    3. Yellow Zed's are easier to find in the carpark

    4. Yellow Zed drivers are more intelligent, because they choose the colour of course

    5. Yellow Zed drivers have lower car ownership costs (see 1. & 2.)

    6. Yellow Zed drivers are more likely to pick up chicks due to the highly attractive colour (not sure if this works in reverse for female Zed'ers)

    7. Yellow Zed drivers are just all round nice guys and gals

Them's the undisputable facts so I'll let you draw your own conclusion.

    Go for ACID ORANGE...

Send a PM to Jekyll on the forum and ask for a pic of "VNMS". His car is "ACID ORANGE" and it looks fantastic!

    Cheers.

Go for a gutsy solid yellow . With white wheels.

I like the great contrast between the yellow and the black bits, but then I also have a black 2+2. Yellow is brash, gregarious, while black is sophisticated, cool. Depends what personality you want your car to project.

    alpine white, or 2000spec/s15 yellow.

but no two tone. personally i'd probably go alpine white. don't see many about in that colour. definetely not pearl white or pearl yellow.

Every answer you get will be right ... and also wrong ...

in someone else's eyes. Colour is subjective. You will be best served by getting something YOU like, and not necesarily be influenced by others opinions. What you do need to consider is whether resale value is important to you - if so, then don't paint it bright pink with a black bonnet - 'cos that's gonna be a bugger to offload!

Black Baz is gonna say black, RedZedMikey (ooooh that's me) will say red, any shade, but preferably not several shades at once, Lou will tell you that Ultra White is the only colour, Captain Mark will guarantee that silver will mean you get way more girls panties left on your bonnet, and apparently if you are highly intelligent etc etc then only yellow will do.

I don't like the black bonnet look, but have nothing against 2 tone if the right colours are chosen and then applied in such a way that it looks good. I am not sure that the lines of a Z32 allow this - but there are 2 tone cars on the forum, so their owners must like them.

Of the colours you've listed, my favourite would be orange. Although I've never seen it in the flesh, I loved the pics of Mr TT's previous ride. Some specific colours to look for on the road would be Blood Orange (Ford BA, solid colour)Mandarin, (Ford BA/Territory, pearl/metallic colour) ... but MY personal choice, and what I would like to paint my Z one day, is Flame Red, which is an orange tinted non-metallic red that was used only on 2001/2 Monaro's. I reckon it'll look schmick, be different, be easy to touch up, and I could still be RedZedMikey!

I was not a fan of yellow

until I saw Greg's (Pexzed's) car up close. Beautiful and really enhances the smooth lines IMHO

Yellow is definately a bad colour for a Z....

It looks far too good and u pull way too many girls - it's unfair for all the other bland coloured Z owners out there : op
