drove the car to get some noodle box tonight, on the way home down a quite street i put my foot down at about 2000rpm in 2nd gear, pedal went all the way in, exhaust got louder, windows were down and i heard alot of spooling, but no power? normally i would have had atleast some power? it took all the way to 3000rpm to get moving, then more progressivly after that.. with 14 by 4000rpm..
im worried theres something wrong with my zed

if anyone can offer some time to leak test and conzult my car it would be greatly apreciated,
    i am in dandenong area,
    im also open for ideas.

my two cents are saying your clutch is slipping for some reason

this kinda make me think clutch, there'd be enough load for you to make boost but not all of your bang will be making it through to your wheels...

    I agree with Andy....

sounds like your clutch is slipping, with the windows down did you notice any unusual smell?

    Max:thumbsup:

Join the club! Did the same thing this w/e and 4 sure my auto is sliping.

Exactly the same, plant it at 2K onwards and .... nothing!!! Tons of boost, noise, revs but no show!!

no wheel spin, no g-forces, lack of power.

    Oh well, you get that.

Is there anyone good with Auto boxes on the Central Coast? (Gosford or thereabouts?)

But if you want tdo a boost leak test and plug conzult in you know I have the gear and I'm just down the road in Carrum Downs.

i was told it was a heavy duty clutch,

the clutch has been holding up really well, but lately yeh, ive been noticing that lag, i really dont think it's the clutch..
when can i get the leak down and conzult done peter? this weekend? i'll take you for a drive too to see what you think..
btw, there is no clutch burn smell at all

    Even heavy duty clutches......>>

Wear out eventually. Some time saturday afternoon looks to be the go at the moment but I'll have a better idea once Jen sorts out what the kids are doing and Paul works out if/when he can make it down.

i'll have to use monopoly money atm,

the zed is burning a hole in my wallet :zlove::zlove:

went for another drive today, i think the clutch is holding up, the problem wasnt so apparent today, but it stillf eels a bit sluggish, mayb its the tyres giving way before the clutch?
the car use to spin like crazy at about 4500rpm and step out to the side, i went upto 4000rpm and noticed a little bit less hp but after i left off the throttle i realized the car was stepping out a tiny bit..

maybe i am just turning into an old fart and cant sense the car losing traction anymore
we'll have to see on sat, if its all good
send me a pm letting me know and a phone # peter,
    thanx

    cheers trav

good way to check for boost leaks

My mechanic showed me a simple way to check for leaks, have the engine idling then take your can of spray carby cleaner 9every good Z owner has one) and liberally spray around all your hoses, plenum etc. quite harmless to do, if the revs increase slightly where you sprayed is leaking.
The carby cleaner is more potent than petrol and if the is a leak, it sucks in the gas given off by the carby cleaner and the revs rise slightly, so easy.
    cheers

    Speaking of clutches

I think mine is on the way out I can feel it slipping / loss of power if I give it heaps. Can I have some recommendations on a new one. I want to upgrade it with something a little stronger :)

    Cheers,
    Dave.
