If it's true?? Why would I lie about something like this? What do I gain by bullshitting to a community that has always been here to help each other? Or are reciepts required?

(Im sure you have the carbon copy?)

    Hey guys...>>>>

Shouldn't this discussion be taken else where (off the forum) and discussed privately, I really don't want to hear it....and I am sure no one else does either.
I am sick and tired of all this so called "discussion" on mechanics etc.
If you have a problem take it up with that person in a PM or an email.
Alot of people wonder why some don't post....
    Well....here is your answer......

    Huh?

I started a thread concerning my frustration at the running costs of a Zed. Maybe Ive missed the point of a public forum if replying to members comments has become an "issue" these days?

I guess discussion isnt required anymore? Thanks.

Don't be 'put off' by the turn of this thread...

    Yr $196 p/hr post was a bit mis-leading.

Just stick with facts and see how things pan out... there's a HUGE wealth of knowledge here & plenty of HELP available.

Healthy discussion is what keeps this FORUM going.

    1. This was never meant to be a sling match Jon. If it were I would have been in contact with you personally.
    2. At no time did I mention UAS until you questioned the truth.
    3. Prices you show are as per what I was charged = true.
    4. At no time did I ever receive a free loan car. Not sure where you got that from.
    5. I was on premises all day as I wanted to time you mechanics. You charged 1x hour over what my watch said and the explained reason was you had two mechanics in the car. 2x $98/hour = $196/ hour (unless Im mistaken?)
    6. "Bling" wheels have been inspected by 2x proffessional tyre companies! (Bob Jane and Able Tyres) Both confirmed though heavy wheels they are sound and balanced.
    7. The heat wrap was at your suggestion to stop the heat in the gearbox well. It cost more than you quoted and yet the well is still damn hot!
    8. 1x hour to fit a short shift when the gearbox was already out? I looked for the modified plate (as per bill) but couldnt find it. Was letting this one slide but as you brought it up....

Look really I couldnt be stuffed with trying to qualify the way I feel on the matter. Point is I first entered your workshop for a new clutch and to fix the vibration in the car. Numerous visits later and it still shakes like crap and... btw... the clutch screeches more than it did before. Smells like shit to!

Ive defended you in the past Jon and would have let this whole situation slide. I came here to vent generic frustration but when you pop-in and call me a liar I'll stand straight up! Im sure you have done awsome work for many people on and off this board... I just dont seem to be one of them.

I owe you an apology? An apology for speaking my mind? You brough up the name UAS... I didnt!

    .......

Apologies to anyone Ive insulted by my views of the beautiful 300ZX. Your cars are your babies, I just seem to be losing the "glow" I once had.

I must also say that when I made a request for help here I got three replies (thanks guys). Yet the mention of UAS and it becomes dozens.

The reason why my view of the situation may differ is because of "customer focus". When a customer questions the way I work my first question is WHY? Answer him well and I retain that customer. Jump on the attack and I lose him/ her forever.

    Sorry again for the ruckus.

    I suppose

You could have 1 mechanic working on your car for 2 hours instead of 2 mechanics working on your car for 1 hour if that would make you feel better :)

You have to admit, your story did tell a different story to that of your jobcard. I understand what you were trying to say in your orginal post (zeds costing lots of money etc) but as you could see from plenty of replies, people got the impression that you only venting anger at a workshop which would have been completely justified if what you stated in your first post was the complete story and true. But there was much more in it you left out. eg

Its no wonder that sparked anger amongst fellow members as if that was all you got for that price then I agree you got ripped hard, but as it turns out, it wasn't $2200 and you got much more than a clutch and heat wrap.

Anyway, I hope your zed experience gets better from here on :zlove:

    Not just me

Muz you should apologise to members of this forum for misleading them and wasting their time as well yes you did apologise for not giving nice thoughts about zeds.
It was obvious to all re $98 x 2 Sydney workshop who you were talking about, may as well mention it rather than on the sly.
Yes I remember clarifying with you that one plus one makes two but .25 which was for two mechanics to give their professional opinion is fair correct? Also I think this was confused with mechanics working on the car. Doing a clutch mainly one mech works on it but one will clean bell housing and R & R clutch fork and clean and re grease etc whilst another removes flywheel and spigot bush etc. Car may be on hoist for 5 hours but labour can and often is more. Total of half an hour was charged for test drives and there were numerous and often with more than one mechanic in the car. YOU WERE there, are we making this up? You saw it. For example computer experts test computers and they charge for it also as do other companies testing equipment. It is not $196 and you should not have said you were actually charged this. When questioned earlier in this thread you again stated and confirmed this false statement. Well to put it mildly that is bull shit or what would you call it. Calling the kettle black isn't it saying you have the receipts implying that it was correct and I was wrong. Before you stated this below I took at as flippant guess and frustration or pissed, but when you stated this below my opinion changed. It was you that implied that you were not bull shitting.

    MUZ.

On this forum if there was a bull shit or crap on detector then there would be lots deleted, but then seems to be promoted or encouraged, so maybe I am wasting my time.

Yes Muz questioning things or asking opinions or warning others of REAL and GENUINE over charges or bad product or work is different. I know on other car forums when a supplier or workshop is mentioned or implied, they are contacted to get their side of the story and helps prevent threads like this. Having ex parte hearings is not fair if not given the chance.

Re the bill I thought you had a loan car on the first visit? I have records at the shop at home at moment so can't check now. At least you have confirmed that the bill I stated was right at last.

Re the short shift on the job card next to me here as I brought all this home and yes 1 hour for moding the lever to make it fit. There is nothing to see as such no plate mentioned on job card or invoice so?? Gearbox out or not still had to be fitted. Also as mentioned to you we don't recommend them for zeds.
Re wrap it was done full length and took longer. If took less time as sometimes does then would have been less.
Curious re the vibration as the wheels and tyres did improve it and confirmed by you on the day when you drove it. Balance done by the place you bought them from?? Also this may not show it up if tyres are egged which is what we found on hoist and confirmed when replaced and test driven. If you still have those cheap bling wheels on your car then might look at changing them. To confirm get a zed and swap wheels again and go for a drive. I think you will find you can balance wheels and come within spec but still out of round or side to side movement and cause vibration.

    Re: Not just me

I cant believe I'm letting you draw me into this debate. Zeds are expensive and thats all I said at the beginning of what has been changed - twisted - distorted!

Go back to my first post and tell me where I ever said UAS did bad work? I expressed my frustration that Zeds require specialist mechanics (which includes UAS) and a simple test drive can cost me $196/ hour.... which you have confirmed twice now in your replies.

You did the heat wrap at a price over what you quoted, telling me that instead your guys did a better and more complete job of wrapping. Great! But as I've told you personally, the area still overheats. You had no answer as to why.

I should apologise to the forum? Why? Ever heard of customer perception?? Its where a customer comes in for a job and walks out with a dozen other things performed on the car, yet the original problem persists! You as a store owner see a bill which you can quantify with hours x 2 divided by .25 etc etc! Yet me as a customer sees a task requested and not completed.

You said to me that finding this problem will be trial and error! That we should keep changing parts till we find the cause.
Replace the center bearing - nope didn't fix it...
... sounds good but the car still shakes.
... I'm unsure about this as I told you the vibration is much less when the car is hot.... which it was when the mechanics test drove.

Guess what? The car still shakes! Customer perception= job not done. Like I said Ive since bought another set of tyres and had the wheels inspected carefully by Bob Jane Tyres. They have cleared the wheels as being fine, also stating the original tyres where not egged. I took your word John and replaced them anyway. The car still shook so I went to Able who have the latest in 4x wheel alignment tools who did a corrected alignment and wheel inspection.

Car still shakes John so I'm taking it to a specialist to see if its what Ive been saying all along? If its the uni's? (which you deny every time... explaining why I don't have a one-piece shaft like I originally wanted)

If I wanted someone to "guess" then I would go to some dodgy backyard mechanic! But with a fee of $98/ hour and 3x visits I also expect the job done.

I never recieved a courtesy car. I drove my second car, a Ford Falcon. You didnt buy that courtesy Skyline till just recently John. If you had another I wish I had of known about it.

I'll leave this with one last comment John! My very first visit I asked for your guys to replace the fan- clutch. A week later (car was still in your workshop) you tell me it doesn't need replacing. You tell me all Zeds growl like that from the fan... that means its doing its job! (this ringing a bell?) My second visit I tell you I read that if Zeds make this noise it means the viscous coupling is stuffed and needs replacing. You again tell me its fine and I shouldn't worry about it!

Guess what? On my third visit you head mechanic was outside with me looking at the steering and said, "By the way, you need a new fan clutch as this one is running too loose"

    Customer perceptions John...

I would have been happy to have left this topic days ago with a simple complaint of Zed costs. You brought UAS into this... so stop trying to make me to be the bad guy here! I even said UAS probably do good work for some people.

I have my perception John and not once in this thread have you tried to alleviate the concerns! Instead you chose to mock me in public forum!

Glad to see you have such high regards of the people who pay for your bills!
