    KEZA Zed Fiend

Just seen today Sunday Telegraph & there in the Motoring Section there's an article about " Five Supercars that won't break the bank" & guess what's in the top 5, You got it, THE ZED.
In the photo of the Zed, you can clearly see that this car belongs to a member, because on the rear quarter window there is "www.aus300zx.com".
The article makes good reading, considering they claim that you can expect to pay anywhere between $20,000 & $50,000 for a Zed in good condition.
I think that if thats the case, the price on mine just went higher. :p

    Cheers
    Kerry

If we cna't scan it this week bring it to Centennial BBQ next w'end KEZA.

I have a scanner and would be happy to scan it.

Obviously this is a fallback plan. I'm sure someone with a scanner will find a copy of the paper between now and then.

    cheers,

    Thanks Andymac. 223kw?

I'm guessing the 206kw official figure was just Nissan keeping in line with the gentlemen's agreement at the time and 223kw is the actual flywheel output?

well a stock as a rock TT....

puts out about 170rwkw on the dyno.... so taking into an account a 25-30% drive train loss you can work out very roughly (emphasis on roughly) what it should be at the engine....

yes, thats the 25th anniversary edition.....

I'd love to know how they squeezed out 223kw's out of an NA V6...:) Good stuff Nissan....

I'll take one in yellow or black thanks..:)

    Cheers

Prolly has a lot to do with the microfinishing on the pistons...

large displacement motors, and in particular big potted ones, usually lose a lot of efficiency because of the friction losses, but apparently these have been reduced by up to 90%?

Also there's an extra half a litre, and a good 12-15 years on the technology must have improved.

But yeah, awesome numbers from an NA. I totally want a 350. But that TT'd one, like in WA, that puts out ~400kw.

I read somewhere the Z32, supra etc are only rated at 206kw due to

some laws which allow cars with =<206kw @ the fly to be imports. Their actual power figure was ~224kw from memory @ the fly.

Have to laugh at the rap they gave the GT3000

Everyone I have spoken too and a few mag articles as well. Say the GT3000 was an overweight pig.

It had crap pissy TD04 turbos, and miniscule intercoolers. It wasnt all that quick and apparently makes the 300zx look like a dream to modify.

They are not close to the top of the list to push for power cause via boosting cause their stock turbos had a tenancy to blow up.

I would recon any copper would love to chase one down, it wouldnt take long to catch.

A stock 300zx would shit on it.

    anyone dropped a VQ35 engine in a z32 body??

even without turbos, the responsive engine would be so beautiful, especially with that fat torque band.

    someone's gotta do it!

A copper was chasing one down the eastern in the emerg lane and he

was struggling to keep up mind you the guy had his arm resting on the window smoking as he went past.

if you are talking about the GTO i think they look much better than a Z when they are in good nick. JMO though.

There is also a article in this months UNIQUE CARS mag.

It's referred as the Nissan R32 Series 300ZX. I always thought it was a Z32  Apart from that, not a bad write-up.

Wouldn't class these as true "supercars"...

    In its purest form.

A friend has an NSX. Some jealous pricks smashed the rear wind screen...replacement cost was a whopping $7K!

I disagree with the claim that the RX8 has already achieved "legendary status". The novelty of the suicide doors have wane thin.

The 3000GT weights in at 1700kg+. Looks superp, low and wide...I think it looks better than the Z32. A definite boulevard cruiser .

Anyone got pics of the Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans race cars?

  20. DinoZ

DinoZ Talks sh#t for a living.

The J-spec TT is derated to 206kW by the restrictors in the

exhaust system - just behind the cats where it unbolts there is a flange inserted that necks it down from 2 inch to 1.1/2 inch ID.

5 minutes with steel burr takes you back up to a 2 inch system and an instant 10-20kW gain
