    When I first start up the Z from cold and drive it the OD doesn't work and the engine is sluggish at slow speed, e.g. from the start when I push down the accelerator pedal all the way, the RPMs only go as high as 2500 RPM. However, after driving for about 15 minutes and parking the car for about 15 minutes then starting again and driving off, the Over Drive works fine and the engine power is great, e.g. from the start and flooring it the RPM goes up to 4,000 rpm easily and great power. But then after driving on the highway after about 30 minutes in OverDrive, it suddenly disengaged and no OD ! Really, really strange...........finicky beast ! Any suggesions on the fix would be highly appreciated.

    Cheers.:angry:

    Two things to check.

    1) Connections or cable to the AFM. As soon as you mention 2500RPM, makes me think the AFM is involved. Connections may be dirty (corroded) or plug could be damaged (under nose panel)

    2) Check trans fluid level and condition.

    Hong Kong Zedder eh?

    You should put Hong Kong in yr profile under STATE. Might confuse a few ppl :LOL:

    Re: yr problems.

    First inspect & thoroughly clean all connectors, in particular AFM (if faulty it limits rpm to 2,500);
    CTS (Coolant Temp Sensor) if bad connection ECU assumes engine is COLD.

    O/Drive will not engage until ECU senses 70 deg C operating temp.

    Until 70 deg, yr in SAFETY BOOST.

    sluggish and No Overdrive

    Thanks for the advice it sounds like you've got the problem sussesd. I'm not a 'good' mechanic and new to this Z so could you advise what is an AFM and where is it located (is it easy to access) ?

    Cjeck the A/T fluid and no problem; its new. I'll try cleaning the Coolant Temp Sensor. Is there another temp sensor for the A/T fluid that could be faulty ?

    Cheers

    AFM = Air Flow Meter

    Located under the nose panel between the headlights. Undo 2 screws and you're there. Connector is held on with a spring clip.

    Welcome to the forum by the way.
