On the balance pipe towards the passenger side there is a lip for a thicker vaccum hose to connect to it. I have just put my plenum back on removing water lines from underneath and now i can't find the vaccum hose that connects to it behind their at all. What does this hose provide vacuum for? Any ideas guys? I'm going to attempt to start the car 2nite with it blocked up to see what I can determine... John
That vacuum hose comes from the large plastic intercooler tube at the LH front (hard to see because of the throttle body pipe above it.
Nah mate your talking about the larger vaccuum hose on the drivers side. I'm talking about the passenger side there's only one vaccuum pipe that comes off it... John
Re: Nah mate your talking about the larger vaccuum hose Hi John I'm doing the same as you with the help of others. We took some photos b4hand. It looks like that hose runs down to the AAIV system. It is a slightly "S" shaped moulded hose. It runs right down past the detonation sensor wiring.
U mean the AIV system? I had a look at this and I think that hose comes off the bolt looking thing next to the balance pipe. I'm talking about the actual hose that comes off the lip of the balance pipe on the passenger side... John
See inside pic The hose you are referring to goes to the PRVR system (which increases fuel pressure momentarily under fuel percolation/very high temps in the fuel rail on starting. In this pic, they have blocked off the PRVR system and the two hoses have been replaced by the orange one. On yours, look for the control valve with two vac and two wires coming off it right behind the LHS shock tower right in front of battery. (If you can't find it, look at the two yellow dots in the above pic, that's the bracket that holds the PRVR control valve) The two vac hoses go exactly where the orange hose is onto the manifold... PS: If you decide to remove the PRVR (Which some do), look here
Hey John - does this pic help? The yellow arrow points to the vacuum that runs off the balance tube to the intercooler pipe. The blue arrow is off the fuel line not the balance tube and as zed4life says, it goes to the PRVR system. Best of luck. Cliff
That hose should join to a......>> Hard pipe about 2" or 3" away from the balance pipe. That hard pipe then runs under the plenum and emerges below the passanger side throttle body. Rubber hose then runs from there down to another hard pipe that goes through the radiator support panel. From memory it is used for either the recircs or the charcol canister. Sorry, can't remember which.
I don't have that hard pipe under the plenum since I did the by-pass. I just ran the hose all the way front to back. Have you got the hard pipe under the plenum still John or have you done the TB by-pass?? Cliff
I just done the water pockets throttle body by-pass... I couldn't find the hose that plugs into the balance pipe that's why i was asking what one it is. What should I do now guys???
Just run a new hose from front to back like I have Go from the balance tube location in my pic that I posted to the yellow circled hard pipe in the pic that I emailed to you. Keep it neat with some electrical ties and your done:thumbsup:
Re: Just run a new hose from front to back like I have He Cliff, Can you send me that photo too in case we have the same problem tomorrow!! sales@pexcom.com.au Thanks in advance
