Hi guys, I was just wondering if any melbourne members know of a good dyno centre that dose Dyno tuning? Also after my car is tuned what sort of numbers can i expect? (Nothing serious done yet; dual BOV's, cat-back exhaust, boost controller, pod filter, the usual stuff.)

    Dyno place

We had a zed Dyno day towards the end of last year and was done very well. It was at M.I. Automotive 211 Bulleen Rd Bulleen ph: 9850 5311. We paid about 25 dollars each, but as a group it was a bit cheaper, so it's probably a bit more. Not sure about figures as i dyno'd a NA Zed.

i got 121.4 rwkw, as a standard zed.

some more highly tuned na's got around 140-160 and the twin turbo guys got way up, 200-250-300rwkw, some crazy figures, really depends how tuned they where, everyone get's different figures.

for an auto TT with exhaust and filter.

asuming stock boost level of 9psi I would say about 160-180rwkw

    Whats the difference between

Rear wheel kilowats and kilowats at the fly?

I thought it was more than that?

25% is about right for a manual,

its a bit more for an auto.

There isn't really anything you can tune......>>

On a stock zed, you can adjust the base timing and that is about it. Unless you replace the chip in the stock ECU or fit an aftermarket unit there isn't much you can do.

Pete's right. You might want to hold on to your hard earned cash...

until you can afford an aftermarket ecu or a chip.
I had my car tuned by EFI hardware in Mitcham who have access to a few dyno machines.
Costs will vary. Depends what you're looking for out of your car. You cannot expect a certain figure as an answer. Also depends on the mods and ecu you have, and more importantly, the skill of the tuner.

    Cheers.

How much can I expect to pay for and aftermarket ECU or chip?

What brands have one for the Z TT? And where would you buy something like that?

what pete means is that the

stock ecu rom (read ONLY memory) can't be altered. however, it can be easily replaced with a chip that can be altered (an eeprom, electrically erasable programmable read-only memory), and then you can tune fuel/timing maps till your heart is content!

don't know which tuners can tweak a z32 ecu however, most might only be familiar with aftermarket setups (microtech, motec, etc etc).

all in all, you might just be better off going for a preprogrammed aftermarket chip, such as a hitec or other. this will allow you to safely run more boost.

you'll get a little change out of $1000 for the hitec.

there are free rom programs available at ZTECHZ (also check the ztechz forum, there is a rom section). these are not commericial grade roms however, and using them could be considered bit of a risk. however, it might be best to start with one of these freely available tuned roms, then take your car to a dyno tuner for fine tuning.

I got there just before noon but I just missed seeing my car in action.

Joe from Nissport took the car down as he was still working on it. We just had her tuned the Tuesday prior to the dyno day, see my profile for the dyno sheet. On the day at MI Automotive we reached 310 though.

talking KW- I think i remember ur car there. If i remember correctly...

the intercooler was hidden behind the front bar, you hadn't cut it by then? If that was ur's then i was very impressed along with most people. You missed quite a few ooos and ahhhh's as the figures came up.
310kw is awesome,I'll have to get you to take me for a spin at the next zed day, i'd love to see how she goes.
