it got pretty crazy where i was at work the guy next door had his skylight dome ripped from the roof and flown to who knowes where, all while i had to rush out and cover my zed whilst getting soaked and pelted by hail stones, but hey what wouldnt we do for our beloved Zeds??? Again, hope you all faired well and no damage done.
I'm on the coast, and I stayed at work.... That side was sunny and clear and were home was at Terrigal got totaly bashed by hail, and i mean bashed my friends old zx was hammered with halmost all windows broken... Thank god I went for a beer after work.
Yeh i got caught In it, was at Punchbowl when the sky fell in, parked under a tree, was the only shelter i could find, golf ball size hail was a worry whacking into the car, appears to be ok though, give it a chamois down when i got home, will check it thoroughly tomorrow. Always paranoid now when it hails as i had a car and a caravan written off previously when a big storm came through Sydney a few years ago, along with the windows and roof tiles on the house.
Re: Yeh i got caught yeah that was one freak storm, got caught on the great western hwy couldnt see a thing lucky i wasnt in a Z:zlove: as i cat afford one yet:thumbsdown:,though when i get one i may have to carry a portable carport for such occasions:thumbsup:
2 dbl dooners in the back of the Z... 15 bucks each from Target, cheap cotton down dooners...I live near hornsby and get soooo much god...damn...bleeding...hail, that it's saved my baby's body (not that the paints anything to write home about) a few times in the last few weeks...but yeah anyway, dooners, yeah, good investment, good for little sleep overs over looking the beach, when, yeah, you might need a dooner, yeah, anyway, how 'was' that storm.
Here is a sight than can sort of predict the rainfall Bureau of Meteorology You will be able to see if rainstorms is headed your way (doesn't help when it forms on top of you though) Just click on where abouts you live on the map, then click on the 'loop' link next to the 128km or 256km radius.
Sounds like a great idea - been thinking that I need to get something like that but how do you keep the thing on the car as when these storms come they are usually associated with really strong winds - some sort of rope maybe or you could at least maybe lock it in under the bootlid? I was also thinking of making up something to cover the car in the sun (heck my car gets hot inside!) - I was thinking 5 metres by 3 metres of cheap fabric from Spotlight wedged under the boot lid and then tied to the front rearview mirrors? Haven't actually been to Spotlight yet. Maybe as one person said a while back only use the car in Autumn and Spring!?
hey, does anyone make padded car covers?? If they don't someone has got to get on that band-wagon!! I'd buy one f'sure, so would almost every1 living in this area i know!!
I once thought of a thick foam rubber, about 30mm thick to just.. unroll over the car and just hook on to bumper and front bar. Might be very large and anoying to store tho.
Where would you fit a roll of 30mm foam in a zed? A few cheap air beds would fold up small buut still provide a lot of protection:thumbsup: Just need to be able to blow them up quickly:wacko:
NOOOO i got hit by hail... ... was at the beach and have got tonnes of dents in the bonnet only,.. think it must be thinner / different metal then rest of body and roof. to top off a perfect day i hit the front bar against some debris on the way home and the fibreglass bar broke to peices.!!! worst day for the Z EVAH!
NOT YESTERDAY BUT IT PUMMELED ME TOO LAST WEEK, Bonnet copped it big time. Oh well gives me an excuse to get a carbon one when I can afford it. Barstad tho not happy Jan watch out guy predicts the same for this arvo MattB
You can all give a collective sigh of relief peeps... The Mazda is ok. I repeat: The Mazda is OK.  Seriously though, I hope everyone came out of that storm unscathed. We copped it pretty bad on the central coast with my sister's work (Toyota) having 180 cars damaged. Anyone want a cheap Toyota?
Thank god I stayed in Wyong... haveing just got my zed last week, I would have been devestated if I got cought in it. I had a client at work today that lived at east gosford, he has a mazda 6 and it was damaged that bad, he hopes to get it written of. There was one panel that had probebly a ding in it about the size of a cricket ball and about 5cm deep. Poor bastard.
