For those of you that follow TT.NET you'll probably see my post there aswell, theres been alot of discussions of late of 60mm Throttle body conversions. So just to show we're one step ahead of the Yanks Here's one of my projects from last year. I've been meaning to post this for a while now, but with all the hassles just haven't got around to doing it. 61.00 mm Throttle bodies onto reworked plennum. No evidence of data - as Engine is still being reborn. So no testing results. Here's just some comparison pic's an the end results. some minor fabbin is involved. Plennum - MODS. needs to be welded up to provide enough material for the lower bolt holes pattern. centre linkage mount holes - welded up an new lowered position. mounting faces needs to be re-machined. match port plennum to throttle bodies. Throttle body - mods. As the (SR20-DET) throttle bodies are same side handed. you have to make one of them opposite hand. spring assemblies needed - from stockies. bit of reworkin of butterfly shafts - needed. end results = complete factory looK.
Looks good Trevor - what do you do for hoses/pipes? I assume the new throttle bodies are larger in OD and that you will have to source some custom made silicon hoses or hard pipes as most of the existing aftermarket units wouldn't fit. Is this correct?
Hey Trevor I noticed there was no throttle stop on the body, that wouldnt be a problem would it?
Very very nice I was toying with the idea of 70mm throttle bodies but the shop gave up on them as too hard. Ended up just machining out the originals to 55. Wish you had posted this a few months ago Great work, cant wait to see a dyno of any improvements.
