RichO's NA has a strange 'clicking' noise apparently from the right rear wheel area. Hard to pinpoint but I thought possibly brake shoe/cable related. The clicking is most apparent when shifting from fwd to reverse (moving to & fro) at low speed, but also when accelerating away.

Sunday, I removed both rear drum/rotors; cleaned & regreased park brake shoe contact points & adjusted the shoe clearances. All springs & components were very dry & dusty but intact!

The 'clicky click' still persists. Any ideas?

    This might sound >>

a bit silly Rob, but my car done something very similar when I first got it.
What it turned out to be, was the heat shroud in the rear wheel well for the exhaust moving ever so slightly and touching the rear wheel & rim:eek:
Easy fix with a tech screw
It may be this & it may not, but worth looking at.
    Cheers mate

    Faint possibiltiy Kerry but >>>

    >>> RichO's NA has aftermarket sports mufflers & no heat shrouds (that I noticed).

I'll have to re-examine the whole rear end with car jacked up again to isolate the problem I think. Could be rear uni-joint although it sounds too 'tinny'.

    Thanks pal.

Oh btw, Snowy mountains trip looks like a no-go for me owing to a spate of burglaries in our street. Price one pays for cul-de-sac with golf course one side, bushland the other. :(

Could be a cracked ball in the wheel bearing.

Woudn't that sound more 'graunchy' ?

And be consistent with road speed?

Does he have hub rings fitted to the wheels ?

If the centre hole in the mag is larger than the hub, you should be using hub rings to act as a spacer between the two. If you don't use hub rings then the weight is carried by the wheel studs and can make a clicking sound due to the slight movement as the weight transfers to and from the studs on rotation.

    Just another possibility.

    Bearing shell loose in housing

Will give a click sound. usually outer shell. But also as per Chilli sugestion above a very similar sound is heard. I would go for shell slip first unless the back has been in an accident prior to purchase? Chris K

    Question......

Did you manage to work out what the clicking sound was ?

I have a similar noise in driver side front.

Also posts on forum talk about "Wheel Bearing Noise"... what does this sound like ?

    Baff.

Turned out to be E-brake shoes ...

... your front right bearing should become noticably noisy when turning left, if on the way out.

    The noise I am hearing....

is a "ticking" type noise... like a nail or a stone, but I can't see a thing.

It comes and goes, 2 days on, 1 off.

Zed is in for service in early January, so I guess I'll ask them to check it out it its still around.

Any other ideas of what it could be ?

I thought even brake wear indicators starting up ?

I am having the exact same noise coming from the

RF wheel too. Only happens when turning left. Took the wheel off and inspected and couldnt see a thing. Must be the bearing.

    Only difference

is that mine is irrelevant of which direction i'm driving. Turning left doesn't change it at all.

How urgently are you getting it looked at ?
