Was a great weekend! Travelled up on Friday where we joined the SA crew and met up with the Vic contingent plus Lou and Pat (hope i got the names right). A meal and a few drinks on Friday night then up early Saturday for the show. After we took a little while to decide on a formation, we got set up.

Before the public arrived, the judges were busy going around doing their thing. Here they are poring over Tim's (Baroo) very nice looking pearl white beast (Its amazing what we found underneath all that dirt after he washed it ;))

At about 10am we started to get organised for the Dyno. I will let everybody else tell you what they got, but below is Doug's Red Zed which pulled a very impressive 125rwKW with 2 mods, which indicates he has a very healthy Zed in great condition.

My own Red beast pulled a respectable 131.4 rwKW which made me a very happy Zed owner. Here is a pic of it in the display, which managed to bag it 3rd in the Japanese Import class.

Gene and Gail's shiny yella Zed was the winner of the best Japanese Import as well as paintwork (cant remember the exact title) which meant he had a bit to celebrate that night.

A big thank you to everybody who participated. Due to everybody's hard work, we WON the 'Top Club Display'. It was great to meet some of the interstate crew who showed that they have great Zed spirit even tho they had to travel 3 times as far as the Adelaide crew, with or without Zeds. Hope we can get an even bigger showing next year.

    Cheers,
    Rob + Manda

Was great to see such a big turnout of 300zx owners both from SA and interstate. Thanks to all the interstaters for making the effort to come over and be part of the show. It was great catching up with some old faces and meeting new ones.

Congratulations to all those who won trophies. The results are as below.

Top Japanese Import - Gene & Gail
Third Place, Japanese Import - Rob & Amanda
Runner Up, Standard Paint - Gene & Gail
    Top Club Display - Aus300zx
    Hard Luck Trophy - Jim
Longest Distance - tied between Ben & Mikey but won with a flip of a coin by Mikey - although both Ben and Mikey have zeroed their odometers for the trip home...the duel is on!!!

Hey Con. Are you going to the dinner at Hogs tuesday night? Annette can't

make it but I am going. I think Koroli has to be with Annette as well, for the parent meetings.

    Nice piccies Rob.

It's a pity the judges wanted me to lift the hood, all the dirt. Anyway after a little help from Wykked to alieve the coolant loss I noticed we got my z on the dyno as well. She pulled 174.7 rwkw for a z with only an exhaust (which has rusted through on one mandrel bend) so I thought that to not be too bad. The raffle prize I won will come in handy to fix that as it is a Lukey performance exhaust voucher ($500, all the z owners chuckled at the amount).
All round a good trip to Berri and to meet fellow zedders from interstate and when I get home to Melb a few more pics will be available.

Sorry I didn't get photos of everyone's car, I wasn't taking snaps with any particular goal in mind.

Fun (if short!) trip, they do it kind of strange in SA.... I went up to collect 2 awards and went home with none, their ceremonies last 5 hours (almost as long as the show itself!), the raffle has enough prizes for all 200 dinner attendies to go home with something, and they like to enclose the grounds with a fence that would match the Berlin wall for inaccessibility.

And, for the record Mikey by whereis.com.au:

Your place to Todds Rd: 48.16 km, 57 mins
My place to Todds Rd: 61.70 km, 1 hour 14 mins
May it forever weigh heavy on your conscience!

what were the other setups like??

from the photos, it looks likes the zed guys were the only ones there...:) Were there any other clubs and what sort of cars?

    Cheers

Conscience? You think I have a conscience?

That 48km from my place would have to be via Nepean Hwy, however, I would always take the Westernport/Monash Fwy - it's longer but quicker especially off-peak. Only 1 set of traffic lights en route. Anyway - as you pointed out, you're 20 cents better off than I am!

I'm happy to surrender the trophy .......

    Nah I couldn't do that

Jedi, all sorts of stuff, plenty of V8's, some older stuff ranging from the 40's and up, plenty of Commodores, Falcons etc, a few imports (180SX's, some Exas, a Ceffy) and so on.

More pix enclosed - but not of cars

I "lost" my camera on the weekend dammit - only to find it when I had to change a deflating tyre after the show. So no car show pics from me, but I have a couple from the dinner and some of my bling.

So are thse two twins or what? Doug (red32) and Jack (ZXTT-1).

Lou and Pat(ltd) doing some origami makeovers on their raffle tickets. The raffle hadn't been drawn then, hope they didn't waste any winners!

Tim (Baroo) buying his raffle tickets. Why the smile and embarrassed look? Tim asked if there were any tickets with a "Z" on, and a couple of local yokels immediately said "He wants tickets with sex on" ... or something like that. I wasn't quick enough to get the pic when she was whispering in his ear ....

.... and Tim didn't get what he was looking for, so resorted to drinking Zucchini-broccoli-beer cocktails, while Pat looked on wishing he had one too.

My Z was away having its front end sorted out, and ended up copping another 100K service about 20K early. I didn't get it back until about 7pm Thursday, so with the exception of the wheels, the little bits and pieces of bling I had bought had to be fitted whilst all around me was being judged.

New billet number plate mount for the rear. Made sure that the lettering was done in "Nissan" font.

The chromed coilpack brackets look good, fitted with s/s bolts from RobZ32's group buy of a while ago. Looks like the coil packs themselves need a bit of black touch up, and maybe I'd better get some s/s bolts for the lower part as well if I'm gonna get picky.

The previously posted ugliness of the chromed-hood-support-grip-gone-wrong was rectified by filing it back and covering with a couple of sleeves of orange heatshrink. The "Merry Christmas" plenum cover isn't permanent - that will now become orange.

A set of 2nd hand polished wheels was fitted along with some fancy red alloy wheel nuts. I think I see a set of chromed Courtesy Nissan centre caps in my future .

Now to the bad news ....

I had become aware that I was losing coolant, and thought it was from a radiator neck problem I am aware of. It started to puzzle me that there was no evidence though - so a look underneath the car revealed coolant coming from the back of the motor. On the hoist at Nissport, it is evident that this is from a metal pipe, not one of the hoses. This will be a motor out, plenum off job. Pity I don't have the spare $ to go polished plenum, turbo overhaul, paint the engine bay while its all out :( :( :(.

On the positive side, some boost leak fixes prior to leaving had the car feeling a bit stronger, so I made a late booking on the Berri dyno. This produced 2 × 207rwkw runs - better than the 187 figure when it was lust measured. So, overall, a great weekend, good to catch up with some Croweaters I knew, and meet some I didn't. I look forward to doing the show again one day   .

    so mikey the question is.......

now that you're engine will be out, what else will you paint orange?? Timing belt covers??? Think of all the bling you can do..:) Pity you cant throw some extra dosh at the motor while its out..:(

    Cheers

Still can't find where my engine is leaking coolant,

Although I did make it home the car decided to go through at least another 2 litres of coolant from Adelaide to Melbourne:angry::angry::angry:

The good thing was that it didn't overheat again.

Have to get the whole system checked again now.
