RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

After several posts implying that more performance was required, the young Jedi-san was finally convinced that the addition of a couple of snails to his excellent condition Z32 was in order.

So with a large crew of Victorian members on hand and his brother-in-law Louie's tools and assistance, we set about the task. I'll be interested to see Mark's comments on the conversion .......

Now to the serious stuff :LOL:, it drizzled rain for much of the day so the 2 garages were made use of and were much appreciated. I got some minor tasks done, relocating the front number plate, meshed the vents in the UAS bonnet and a few other underbonnet tasks. There was other work going on around, but I'll leave that to others to report.

Thanks again to Mark and his family for a great day, and fantastic facilities. Now Mark and max and others wielding cameras on the day, get to work with your posts!

ha ha ha  very nice

I do hope you left them there! I took many photos, but they are all on Marks camera....so will have to wait for his post. After i got home i went on to finish the bonnet bins and the 2nd one came out better than the first(even though the first was out by 1mm). Looks great

The only pic i got is on my camera phone (quality is poor)

And it only took me 1 hour to finish, but i had my heavy-duty drill with a 16mm drill bit to make life much easier(no more filing). Some how its easier to get the job done without spectators :LOL::LOL: and PRESSURE :p

    Max:thumbsup:

  3. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

I have never seen 2 more agonised expressions

on anyones face as those on Jack's and Max's as they committed the drill bits to their pristine bonnets for the fitting of bonnet pins. The old engineering axiom of "measure twice, cut once" went out the window as Max took over an hour to decide exactly where to drill the first hole. Talk about PRESSURE!

  4. zxtt-1

    zxtt-1 mechanically inept

    You've got that right >>--

did the first pin and found it was out by 5mm - damn. lotsa filing and it's a bit better now.Haven't done the second pin yet because it's a bit wet out there at the moment. :D:D

    JEDI TECH DAY........... (Dialup unfriendly)

JEDI TECH DAY 3 - RETURN OF THE ZED

Well, what a day. It was fantastic, but the pic below really explains it all:

It was a very wet, melbourne day.

Needless to say, we still had fun and got a lot of work done. The turnout was a bit down on the previous 2 jedi tech days, but we still had 17 zeds and one pontiac turn up on the day..:) Shame on those people who looked at the weather and said "oh bugger that, its raining, i'm not going". Very weak indeed..:):LOL: And where was Blipman?? Rob?? EnuffZ???

Anyway, we were strong and rain wasnt going to stop us...

    The garages were quite full..:)

Grant had enough sense to piss of his stock air box and install a Unifilter. Clever boy. You reading this Col?

Its amazing the position you find yourself in when working on a zed. Mental note to self: do not leave camera lying around when your head is buried in the zed and your arse is sticking into the air.....

    Brilliant. The finished product.

Gerhard replaced his OPS. He had this nifty idea of increasing the length of the neck with a series of adapters to place the OPS in front of more air, and also fit a heatsink to the bottom to try and suck out that damaging heat sink. Will it work??? Only time will tell....

Pete brought his boost/vacuum leak tester, so a few cars got tested on the day. Gerhard (the one wearing the overalls) looked like a ghostbuster, with funky headphones and some sort of device for listening for air escaping..:) Good job guys...:)

One member (cant remember who) reported that his aircon wasnt working. Upon examination this was found..:) No belt, no aircon..:)

RedZedMikey was reffered to as Gandalf from LOTR fame for the day. He had his trusty magic staff holding up his bonnet, while his proper bonnet holder is getting chromed. The stick is a light weight advantage apparantly and he can cast magical spells with it (like putting snails in my car?)...

mikey's mission for the day was to fit the mesh to his funky bonnet...

As usual, conzult was being shared around like a $2 hooker. Needless to say, many dodgy O2 sensors found and many TPS's needing adjustment...

Lunch time came round, so 15 pizza's and 6 rolls of garlic bread later, the natives were happy. I had planned for a BBQ, but the weather thought otherwise.

After lunch it was back to work.... Jack (zxtt-1) and Max (Maxs'z) had bonnet pins to install, so both zeds were brought into the garage and the carnage started....

This is Jack hacking away at his bonnet... I couldnt watch...

Max was also content on drilling, but he had to do it in style. For those that dont know Max, he is our Melb crew deviant and poser. He loves the odd photo of himself, and posses at every opportunity..:)

If only he knew I was standing behind him when that photo was taken....

Dont know about you, but Max looks psycho to me....:unsure:

wow, what a small ..................hole .......you have max....

Pete and I changed some fuel hoses on Nt's (Andrew) car. He had a strong fuel smell in the cabin, so after a short trip to repco, off came the fuel hoses....

Some Carbon fibre windscreen cowls. The pics dont do them justice, they look awesome if you're into that sort of thing.....

Some bling bling dump pipes. Brilliant pipes, not that I'll ever need them...:)

All in all, we all had fun. Great people, great cars and great weat.......ok, maybe not great weather.....but we still accomplished lots. Until the next Jedi tech day...:)

    Cheers

    Now it all makes sense.......

so thats why you left my house with a cheeky grin, looking like the cat who had just swallowed the bird..:):LOL: Well, at least I can say my car had 2 snails at one point in its life..:) hey did anyone remove those snails from my engine bay???...:) I closed my bonnet later in the day, but didnt see the snails. If they crawled into the engine bay somewhere, I now have 2 very cooked snails in there :LOL::LOL:. Anyone know of a good snail dressing or salad??..:)

    Cheers

P.s 2nd mental note to self: dont leave open zed unattended around cheeky buggers..:)

  7. JEDI-77

    JEDI-77 Jedi Master

you'll also find that if you spent less time posing for the camera.....

you'd get heaps more work done..:):LOL::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Cheers

    BigCol That's what she said...

Thanks to you & your family for hosting another great tech day!

All that turned up had a great day. What can be better than spending a few hours hanging shit on Max?

Thanks to Pete for running Consult on my car, and thanks to Gerhard for helping me decide on my next project - clear rear lights!

p.s. Grant & I cleared our front indicators today, and we installed clear blinkers onto Grant's car. Pics to follow soon.

    Nice write up Marky

Thanks for having the tech day, its a shame its a 160km round-trip but it was worth it. Its good to see that some owners prefer to have aftermarket air filters installed, good job Grant (something for Col too do?) By the way its good to see that Col and Grant have made up and back together again after what happened last time, ha ha ha

Next time i'll TRY too spend less time in front of the camera and more time doing some work, but i still managed to finish it last night. :) BTW it looks really ricey, i like it!

But yeah it was a great day, interesting & funny but all in all a top day.

    Max:thumbsup:

P.S. Sometimes it better to take your time :p like i did have to watch Jake and see what needs to be done.

    Good one Mark.

Looked like a good time as usual.

Sorry I couldn't make it. Just returned from OS, so had to do the grandparent thing.

Oh, when I was OS, we dropped into Stillen in California. SOOO many cool toys.

I've been out of it for 8 weeks, any cruises, other techdays coming up ?

    Bruce.

    Welcome back Baff...

I believe BigCol is organizing a Great Ocean Road (GOR) cruize on the 27th of this month, so keep your eyes out for that. Did you pick up any goodies while in Calif? And how's the 25th anniversary machine going?

  13. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

    you bet!

The Great Ocean Road (GOR) cruise is on Sat 27th November (stay tuned for a detailed post soon), and the next weekend 4th/5th Cletus is organising the Vic Xmas BBQ. This is also the same weekend as a "Show us your Wheels" event up near Shepparton.

It's going to be a big couple of months for the Vic guys with the dyno day & Jedi Tech Day 3 in the past 2 weeks and some good cruises coming up! Good to have you back man and hopefully see you at the GOR cruise.

Snail salad, snail soup, snail curry...

Which recipe would you like Mark???:p:LOL::p

I must admit it's an acquired taste but snails are really something. I have only tasted the salt water variety but I was told that the garden ones taste just as nice...mmmm.

For those wondering what they taste like, it's a bit leathery and a bit like tough chicken. :)

Once again a fantastic tech day...

Thanx Mark for your hospitality on the day. I must admit tho, it definitely wasn't an ideal day for a convertible, but after 11 years, the canvas roof still does not leak, it's a testament to the build quality of these convertibles.

And thanx Pete for fitting those globes for me, in the rain too!

Sorry Mark, if you want to make use of

Noxter's recipes, you'll have to find your own snails. Both snails were removed, and I also removed their snail trails off your chromed intake pipes 'cos I remembered you either have or will soon have a black belt and I don't fancy being used as practice!

    Bugger.....

was looking forward to the extra power that the "snails" would bring...:( Oh well, back to being a lowly NA...:)

    Cheers

P.s Did you find that leak?

Easy fix. Why don't you all come up to the Show us ya wheels"..>>

car show and have the Chrissy BBQ at the show. ???

Also whilst all the beds are taken Michelle has a big enough back yard for tents and room to park 5 Zeds up the driveway.

    Cheers

then everyone will say look at that s-car-go. lol...

Sorry I didn't make it down for the day, climbed out of bed at 7am and the sky looked indentical to your first pic.

    Next time.

    Cheers
