    The two main differences.....>>

Are that the climate control and interior trim. The C/C allowed the air to be directed and the trim changed from the rough grey to a softer velvet style.

Ummm, at risk of sounding a little slow...
What do you mean by allowing the air to be directed? Do you mean like being able to choose between floor vents/dash vents/console vents? Or something else?
    Thanks.

Correct. You can't choose feet or face vents with S1

    face or foot?

so does this only apply to the J spec cars?
Ours is a 90 aus spec and you can chose between face and foot on it.

    I think the 90 aus-spec....

has the manual A/C which means you just turn the knob and either select cold or hot air, and also where the air blows from. In the J-spec cars, the auto climate control is essentially that, automatic. We select a desired temp and the computer, with the vast range of sensors, blows air at the required temp and selects where to blow it from. Although a novelty at first, I have always wished that I had the series 2 climate control where I can select which vent the air comes from.

    Cheers

    yes I believe so....

you have to get a series 2 climate control pod to replace the series 1, and you also have to get a series 2 computer which controls the new functions. I think someone on the forum has done it, but I cant remember the details all that well...

    Cheers
