Well, on sunday (the 19th) some of us Vic folk had a nice game of golf at the Marysville (spelling??) Golf course. The day was organised by Max (Max's Z) and what a great day it was. 11 zeds, great people and most importantly to us melbournites, awesome weather!! Anyway, as usual I took some pics:

We all met at the Coles supermarket in Lillydale. Most of us were there on time (sorry max for holding us up!!), except for WYKKED and RedZedMikey who were too busy sleeping in..:) But they got there in the end. It was also here that we had the pleasure of meeting mat (phat300). It was a pleasure to meet you dude, and I hope you had fun..:)

This is a rarity on our cruises. Why you ask??? Because NA's are always heavily outnumbered by TT's. So when I saw 3, red, Aus-spec NA's all parked next to each I had to record the moment. From left to right, Colin (BigCol), Grant (DSCM) and Doug (red32). The NA's did alright on this cruise with 5 NA's and 6 TT's.

The trip to Marysville involved a bit of a cruise. The drive was fantastic, especially through the Black Spur. The roads were fantastic, and the scenery looked like something out of The Lord of the Rings. The cruise part was led by john (Cletus) in his sexy dark green zed, and what a great job he did...

We finally made it to the golf course, where evryone got down to business. We almost had the deal of our life with only a total cost of $90 for 18 holes, for 13 people. No one argued and everyone handed the cash over real quick. We thought we had gotten away it until the lady came running out after us realising she had made a mistake and wanting $180 instead...:)

Probably the best the golf course car park has ever looked.

Everyone getting ready. Not many people were too receptive when I asked everyone to look this way and smile. Instead, I got the finger from pete (WYKKED.

and so the game began..... I have a whole heap of photo's, but there's no point showing a whole bunch of people swinging their clubs. And as fate would have it, everytime someone stuffed up (often), my camera was off (damn it!!). So the golfers need not be embarrased. Doug (red32) and I didnt actually play, rather just walked around with one of the groups playing with our cameras (much to the frustration of the others who didnt want to get caught on film). One of the best efforts was pete (WYKKED). He was probably the first one to hit the ball, and on his first attempt, he lines it up, swings, and absolutely hits it over the fence and onto the road where he had to fetch it. Top effort!

Max's Z..... He really is an expert with balls..:)

The golf scenery was brilliant, set in a valley with neighbouring bush land.

Once again, not to pick on pete, but this is what happens when you smack the crap out of your ball, and land right in the swamp. Go fetch boys!

At the end of 9 holes, doug and I decided that walking around a gold course was hard work and long (I really had no idea that a golf game took so damned long!). John also took a rest, so we opted not to walk/play the remaining 9 holes. So while the rest of the guys kept playing, the 3 of us went for a quick short cruise up to Lake Mountain. On the way, Doug and I took some pics of our babies...

The day ended with a BBQ, and I think by 3:30pm (a very late lunch), everyone was starving. I learnt 3 things on this day. 1) Golf is a long game 2) Do not stand in front of the golfers while taking pics even if far away. Distance means nothing, which I learnt the hardway as I was nearly sconned by one of Robs golf balls. Also, if you must take photo's while in front, stand dead centre in the green, because no one can hit the damned ball straight so you're much safer than standing on the edges..:) 3)Do not stand on your own at a far distance, as you instantly become a target. Doug doesnt know this, but at one point he was standing on his own about 200 meters away, and there was a prize money of $5 for anyone that could hit him on the bonce. Thanks again to Max for organising this great day...:)

    Cheers

    Thanks Maximus

    For organising the golf day.

That blue Zed (Pearl green actually ;)) is mine and from what Ive been told by Simon @ TTzed, it is a cheats way of putting the f40 style wing on the back by utilising the original wing. If you look close at it, you will see the joins. It is as I bought it so I cant tell you anything other than it was imported that way.
    Cheers, Cletus

do you have any scores from the golf day?

  6. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

None of us are going to make it to the pro tour...

I believe the winning score was 102. I came 3rd with 104 (90 after 16 holes then had a 10 including 2 lost balls, and a four). It was a fairly challenging back nine without lunch to provide more energy (hey max?) !!!

Geez, I should have hung around for the front 9

I was 51 after the back nine. Had a whinging brother and wife at home. Didn't think the golf would take so long. The goons I was playing with were taking ages. (Just kidding Csava)
Thanks for organising it Max. It was good to meet a few of you guys.

But yeah it was a good day, good cruise, nearly got a cheap round of golf, Pete's 1st shot on the 1st hole was hilarious that i had to start on the back nine.

The BBQ, cooked by John and Doug was fantastic (thanks Guys). Looking forward to next year's Golf event.

    Regards Max:thumbsup:

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Re: Vic Golf Day pics...

Stupid, hey? Yeah, stupid like a fox!

This is the view from the 5th tee

I figured I'd be fairly safe if I stood between the two big gums on the right... some would end up in the mud (teehee), some wouldn't make the distance, and those that did would slice around the back of the trees to follow the fairway. WRONG!

Looking back from the trees, John at the Tee, Wykked waiting...

Ended up with four balls within 20 meters of me, and Blondie out-drove everyone off the Tee, except for Cletus. Big Col topped his tee-shot and drove into the mud in front of the Tee, fortunately with enough power to make it all the way across and up onto the start of the fairway.

At one stage we had Jedi chained to the BBQ...

He eventually got all the rust off the hotplate by licking it!!

    Bloody Great Day.....>>

Even if I did make a goose of myself by slicing the first ball over the road running down the side of the course. I suppose that is what you get when you havn't swung a club in over 12 months and believe that, like riding a bike, it will all come back instantly. Max did a great Job organising a top day with excelent weather and almost the cheapest round of golf I've ever had. Jen had fun too, but it looks like she might have a bit of work to do before her charity golf game in a week and a half.

I was giggling about that in the back of my head all day

    hehehe..Doug....

it was when you were standing between those tree's, that there was a $5 bounty placed on your head!..:) Hence why so many balls landed in your direction..:)

    Cheers

  14. RedZedMikey

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    Really enjoyed torturing myself >>

as is usual with golf ... but there's always enough good shots to make you come back again. Like Wykked, I've become a once-or-twice-a-year golfer, and it showed. My lost ball count was 4 I think!

The drive up was great, as was the company, the competition and the bbq. The drive back was great too - after leaving you guys to visit a mate in Alexandra, I didn't come back through the Spur until after 11pm. I think thats the first time I've had a complete run through without being held up anywhere .

Thanks to Max for organising, to Jedi for the write-up, to Doug for providing target practice, to Wykked, Jen and John (partners me on the day), and all other partakers. Looking forward to a re-run next year.
