I have searched the forum for info on flywheels but nothing specifically answers my question. If i missed it sorry. :D

Im replacing the clutch and basically want to know if people think its worth lightening the flywheel. I understand its less "spun" weight so you would expect the car to rev harder, does anyone know how it effects torque, Hp, idol, etc... and if they would recommend it.

The cars a N/A already with the under drive pulley kit. Can you go to light on all these things and cause the car to run like crap??

    It will rev harder, but>

there will be some loss of low end response, which will possibly be more obvious in an NA (as opposed to a TT). I have a lightened F/wheel from UAS, in my TT, and I do need to use a few more rpm to pull away from a stop, compared to the old F/wheel. On the plus side, the rpm builds much quicker.

Talk to John at UAS, and be guided by his advice, Josh.

    I think its worthwhile

I fitted one about 6 months ago when the clutch was changed, also have the UD pulley. I find it is a little bit harded to launch the car as you dont have as much engine momentum with the heavy flywheel, requires a few hundred RPM more on takeoff. Once the car is moving though I find pickup to be better, similar improvent to fitting an UD pulley. If you are fitting a new clutch anyway its probably a worthwhile mod, as long as you are realistic and dont expect a HUGE increase in performance.

    A point to note....>>

circuit racers use light flywheels, drag racers use stock weight flywheels.

I gained 5rwkw from the lightened flywheel

but the big difference was how the car accelerates. It use to lag down and then pull really hard now its just really smooth and gets to 100k's much quicker without the huge gforce feeling.. sorta hard to explain, its as if the boost isn't as strong but its faster. Also with launching it i find it easier to launch, doesn't bog down like some people have mentioned. Takes a lot of load off the engine as well.. I would highly recommend one!!

Mine was about half the thickness of the stock one and was wayyy lighter than the stock flywheel. It came with the nismo gmax i have in the car atm.
