just got home and was hearing a funny noise so lifted the lid and had a listen, sounds like there is a sort of flapping, tapping sound coming from the right hand side of the timing belt cover. If I put my hand on the right hand side you can feel a hammering/vibration but nothing on the left hand side. I just had the timing belt replaced so it would be a bit weird if its gone or going but possible, it was a genuine nissan one. Any ideas what it may be or is there any where people know in the se suburbs that would be able to diagnose and is good?
SE suburbs puts you close to Nissport>>> at 233 Boundary Rd., Mordialloc. Supposed to be one of the best Z shops in Melbourne. Phone Spencer or Joe on 95802660. Hope it's not too serious.Cheers, Doug
When the timing belt was replaced.....>> Did they also replace any of the idler bearings or the auto tensioner? You should really take it back to the place that did the work, since if the probelm is a result of something they did they are more likely to accept responsibility then if someone else has been playing with it. If you can't go back (for any reason) to the place that did the work then I would of course suggest you see Nissport.
Nothing else was replaced... I was a bit short of cash at the time so just said timing belt and thats it, yeah I will contact the mob that did it tomorrow and take it back to them. They should be good for it, I mean the car was still making heaps of power and running normally just a weird noise, I'm hoping just a loose timing belt and nothing serious. But if the other mob is no go, i'll give nissport a shot... only about 25 mins away. Thanks for the help
A few people have experienced.....>> Problems with the timing belt coming into contact with the covers after having it replaced, with a bit of luck that is all it is.
Yeah granted that was just how it... was before I realised there was a problem, good power etc, I'll definately be limping it around until its fixed.
Well took it down to nissport... spencer had a look at it, probably the auto tensioner has gone and the other noise I've always had is the lifters and so 1 maybe 2 of those have gone... and they've been giving me the sh*ts since day one, so will be good to get them fixed. So looks like I'll be taking it back to nissport in about a week (they're busy at the moment with a couple of other cars) to get the passenger side bank of the lifters replaced, a few hoses and connectors while they are in there and get the timing belt etc fixed up as well.Spencer gave me a drive of his 300zx with this new set of new brake pads he's gotten from europe somewhere, because I'll be needing some new rotors etc soon, and they are the meanest/horniest brake pads I think I've ever experienced. You hardly have to even hit the brake peddle and the abs is already working its tits off... I'm definately going to get a set of those things.
lol, good old Spencer....he raves about those brake pads, there supposed to be very very good and i think i will be getting some of him too. Supposed to work in very low to very high temperature ranges.Max:YD
Yeah Joe took me and mate..... in a spin in his red TT which has these brakes fitted. Tell you what, they do a great job at stopping a heavy zed. I'd hate to ask how much though..Cheers
