I am looking at at a 1990 zx to buy red duco but paint work not so good what would it cost me to renew paint job, no crows feet just weathered paint like to do it in 2pak. regards fish
How much are you paying for> the car?(you can expect to pay $4-5K for a decent respray). Then you have to face the likely possibility that a car in poor visual condition, is probably in poor mechanical condition as well. Why not buy a car in good condition instead? ( Thorny's Yellow TT 2+2 is in excellent condition both mechanically and visually, and can be had for around $17500, to a genuine buyer). Check the For Sale forum.
Agree with Chili >>> >>> but without seeing car paint cond. hard to assess. In Qld 2k could poss fix, but 4k prolly better allowance if considering purchase.YES, Thorny's Zed sounds like a TOP buy!!! })
rough 1 k if you want a quick job can be done with 2 litres of paint, (this is what i call a touch up coat)sand back everything lightly with about 400 grit, bit of etch on the tacky areas and away you go will look good apart from under bonnet, inside door under targa if you have them and so on only covers the outside this is what car yards get done to "jazz" up their commonwhores and falcodoresdepends if you want a good job really and u know what they say "you get what you pay for"2k is a realistic figure to get door jams and all the bits you hardly see done anyways good luck
sorry but 400 is for rubbing filler only.... also you can paint it in 2 litres of paint only if you want it to last for about 12 months, using minimal products usualy tends to make people overthin and apply a lower micron coat, the method you refer to is a basic car yard respray technique that is only intended to shine the car to sell it, as Chilli stated it will be between 4 to 5 k for a decent job, ive been a painter for near 20 years it all comes down to explaining what you want , be very particular as to what you expect and dont jump at a cheap price or it WILL end in heartache and bad feelings towards the painter in the end. It is always recomended to view some of the painters work prior to going ahead with the job<P>
