I have a problem where i have a viabration from the rear of the car, I have replaced a wheel bearing (right rear which was rooted) the left rear was nipped up as it had no noise but had slight play. All wheels have been balanced and the uni joints and centre bearing where checked and seem ok. The gear stick rattles at times from the viabration and it seems to go away when in fifth gear doing over 100kph. Any clues? Tailshaft balancing? Or can my oversized exhaust that drones like nothing ive ever heard before be simulating it? I think the previous owner thought that N/A cars needed exhausts bigger than the titanic, i will be replacing that soon.

does it happen at a certain rpm?

or is it at a certain speed?my flyweel being unbalanced had a lot to do with my vibrations at 60kmh, wasnt my centre bearing at all, check your tyre pressuers too, and wheel tread wear.

    not rpm

It doesnt seem to be there above 100 but when it happens i have pushed the clutch in and its still there , tyre pressures are ok, treadwear seems ok but i wouldnt mind trying a set of different wheels at the back , what fits? Will ford wheels fit?

    Could be your...>>

rear gearbox mount. I've had an annoying vibration in one of my zeds for a couple of years and couldn't find the source of the problem. When a friend changed the rear main seal and flex plate he told me the rear gearbox mount was stuffed. So, I've just dropped off a new mount and will hopefully notice a difference.CheersPS: Thanks to Simon at TTZ who arranged delivery of the new gearbox mount to my home within 24 hours of me ordering. Bloody quick!!!

    Check under the Z today

and a friend of mine has said that the gearbox mount has a rubber damper missing or broken off, he says its to remove viabration, after driving it today found that above 40kph it began to have a slight shudder but then goes away at higher speeds or its not as noticable. Could that broken rubber be causing all this?
