Had a pre-inspection done on a 95' aus del. auto with 94,000km.- Slight oil leak coming from LHR Rocker Cover Gasket
    - Crack in Alternator Belt
    - Compression was 150 even steven in all cylinders
    - ECU check was OK, all sensors working.
    - Engine has smooth idle & very responsive.
    - Tranny seemed fairly smooth. Is the oil leak a cause for concern? What is a rocker cover gasket? Even if i get this fixed, how much will it cost, and could this possibly lead to other parts of the engine going wrong in the future since the manifold has to be removed for this job?
Is the compression ok?Would like to thank BigCol & YellowZ who were extremely helpful!!!! :YD

compression a bit low for an NA

does it have a service history? At 94.000km it will need the 100,000km service done including the cam seals which should fix the oil leak. The gasket you mention will require a plenum pull to fix. Probably looking at about $1500-$2000 if you have to pay someone to do all this work for you. The compression would concern me a bit, should be better for a genuine 96,000km aus vehicle you would expect.

    isnt it only

160 across the board for a brand spanking new engine?
I know when Mathius got his compression test he would have been happy with all 150's. :-Z

    Arrrrgh! Sorry :><

At around 3pm my mobile battery went flat, stupid me had your number in my phone, I should've written it down!! I ended up finishing there at around 5.40. I wasn't sure if you would still be open at that time, I should've come around anyway since it was very near to Modbuy on the map, just off north east rd.I tried calling you around lunchtime today but couldn't reach you so i'll try again after I finish here @ work. Thanks again & *BIG* sorry that I had to make you wait for nothing !!!

    The 100,000 was done.

It had the cam belt changed & all fluids, but not the water pump auto tensioner & other 'extra' 100k items. It has full service history, it appeared to have been serviced at the intervals req'd but no major components had ever been changed in all its life. It was always serviced at Nissan. There was no other leak except for the Left Hand Rear rocker cover gasket I mentioned. The mechanic said to change this it would be around $400 and would require removing the manifold.I'll try and do a search on the Plenum Pull you mentioned and see what that's all about, but from what you said, it sounds like a terrifyingly big & expensive job, in which case I may forgoe buying this Z.What figures should the compression be? From previous posts I think it should be around 170 or something right?

    I dont know but...

Is it possible you could take pictures of the engine / underbody while they're doing it and email them to me with the results? ...Just for my own reference...Some mechanics are nice enough to let you into thier workshop, I was allowed yesterday and saw for myself, but was having a 'dead battery' day with my phone & camera!!
