    yep, thanks, did that.

All I could find was "It should cost around..." I was hoping for someone who had done this recently with some more specific details. I wouldn't post without searching first.

    sorry to hear

sorry to hear, but it really depends on wot u get done.
i recently got my twin turbo rebuilt with forged pistons new conrods new injectors high flowed turbos 6 puck clutch and more stuff. I have spent in excess of $10,000 so prepare yourself as my engine only seemed that the heads and rings needed doing but discovered a cracked piston, warped conrods and two leaking turbo's

    is that $10k including forged

pistons etc? If so, that seems very cheap.

    the body of that message...

This is how I arrived at a possible rebuild:Took my car, which was running like a dream, to a mechanic close to work to get the 100,000k service done. Thought i was doing the right thing....My cam sensor seals were leaking so i got them replaced but had to wait on parts from Japan, in the end he had my car for around 5 weeks! When I got it back it felt like it was a bit rich as it was backfiring a little and missing a bit. He said with my injectors being cleaned a lot more fuel was getting through blah blah... I figured an ECU reset would sort it. wrong.Took it back and he blamed a dodgy electrical connection, picked it up, still broken, took it back, more BS, picked it up.... this went on for 4 months.I said F**kyou and went to nissan. They spent a week on it with consult etc and said "We don't have twin turbo manuels, we can't pin point it, we'll only charge you $1000. Great, thanks.I'm now at B&R automotive at oxley (colin) who thinks that the original mechanic may have damaged something by screwing up the service.so... :`( But what was the condition of your car before the rebuild? I'm kind of hoping that I might be able to get off without a "full" rebuild.

Is that Colin that did Mr TTs rebuild?...

If so then I hope your problems arent going to continue. Make sure to get all your parts engraved first :p

This is parts only but since I have never

really added it up, here goes.1. Pistons $1650 (custom made forged)
    2. Machine work $1600 (cash job) inc. crank grind, 12 new valves and headwork (no porting etc just fixing up)
    3. Turbos $3050 T28 plain bearing centres hi-flowed to my housings
    4. Conrods $500 Shot peened stock rods
    5. Gaskets etc $500 gasket kit, hoses, etc
    6. you could allow another $1000 for timing belts, idlers, water pumps etc that I had already just replaced b4 I blew the engine.
    7. Tools $50 couple of allen head impact sockets I needed to do heads/water pipes etc.
    8. Labour ??? God knows how much it would cost to have it assembled/installed by an x-spurt. I did all work myself.
    9. approx $500 I spent on useless water pipes, rings etc that I didn't need and had ordered b4hand.
    10. The best $40 I spent on Nissan red gasket goo, unbelievable stuff :)Approx total excluding 6,7,8 and 9 = $7340 and there are prolly a few things I've forgotten.

Cause if its the same guy...

there is the outstanding issue of his engine not even starting when he recieved it and being totally botched. Also the issue of his parts being sold to other customers/gone missing. So Im hoping you havent gone from bad to worse in terms of getting your engine finally fixed and you should engrave any parts you dont want to go missing from your rebuild.

    only tested 3 cylinders

Colin had a "quick look", I assume he only did 3 because of the balencer tube but I had 110 - 120 psi in those 3.Colin said they should be at 140 psi minimum

I'm getting my top end rebuilt as we speak >

and I'm expecting to pay up to $3,000... Full rebuilds are usually around $6,000-$7,000 and sometimes up to $10,000...It's very hard for someone to give you even close to an approximate cost as it all depends what is wrong with your engine... You may need to replace 24 valves, 2 heads, 6 cylinders, 6 conrods, the list goes on... if the heads are perfectly fine, you save $1600, if the valves don't need to be touched you could save anywhere between $400 and $1200... Go check out the engine internals area at www.ttzed.com for a rough idea of how much the parts will cost, then add the hours * labour cost of your mechanic... unfortunately, most of this can only be done when you know exactly what is wrong with your engine... Good luck!! :-Z
