Finally got my interface finished after weeks of messing around. Only got the shareware version at the moment, but planning to get the full version soon. I was going to get it today but I could hear the credit card squealing Well the good thing is, it came up with no errors =) Tried Ztalk but it keeps freezing up. [image]http://members.iinet.net.au/~jatili/images/300zx.jpg[/image]
I wasn't But that might not be a bad idea. Only problem is the connector to plug into the Zed I ended up making one :s
^D^ Okay, purchase details enclosed Here is a cut n'paste of his email. Hey Mark, Yep, you heard right. I have some all built up and tested (the Rev2 design too - not the Rev1 design that everyone seems to be using). They are done on quality double sided circuit boards and have indicator LEDs for Power, Tx and Rx. Most of the components are surface mount to keep the size down. It's housed in a box that is around 60x30x20mm. See photo. I'm currently giving people options for the Consult connector as it is possible to carve up a connector from the door loom of an N14 Pulsar and make that work or I can supply a proper Consult connector all wired up. $AU60 without the connector. Add $20 if you want the proper connector (they're expensive). I'm currently waiting on some more Consult pins but I should have them any day now. I'm working with another guy to have some software available too. He's written quite a nice app that displays all the data on pseudo-analog gauges and does datalogging on all data. As well as the usual fault code monitoring and active engine tests (power balance tests etc.). I've been running this software on my S13 SR20DET for quite a few months now and I quite like it. I've come to an arrangement with him to offer people the software for $25 so he can at least make a little money back from all the effort he has put into it (he actually crashed his Skyline while developing the software so he has certainly "suffered for his art"!). Of course you may want to write your own software or just use the free Conzult package. If you want more info on this just let me know and I'll send you some screengrabs. Postage in Oz is $5. PayPal is the preferred method for funds transfer but unfortunately you'll have to add $5 for their commission. PL PS: I am finding out if he will do cheque/money order also for those who are "paypal shy". PL's email is pl@curl.aunz.net Picture [image]http://members.optusnet.com.au/markfield/conzult_pic.jpg[/image]
realy shouldnt we be.... buying from the one who realy got the ball rolling? after all hes doing the software dev for the fun of it, and as designed a KEY chain connector (realy small).also the hardware he is doing just above cost.www.zcontrol.net. is his web page.the dudes name on the forum is extensive. a realy top bloke. also buying from him may keep him motovated to keep developing the ztalk software. after all this guy is doing all this software DEV for free. if or when ztalk is finisthed it will be one of the best bits of tuning software around for the zed. like his previous honda software, it will remain free when complete.give the guy a little compinstation for his time. buy his kit. i made my own on a project pcb. but realy thought this guy deserves to get something out of this , so i bought one of his as well.
Fully agree with you ... but if you read my original post to him (STillen)- I asked if he was selling them and he said he would consider it ... thats it.Are we talking about the same person here? Who is the owner of www.zcontrol.net? This is the first I've seen of this site (which looks good BTW).
he is the creator of... zcontrol and ztalk. also he made one of the first PCB's for the consult interface, its so tiny!, seriously not much bigget than an alarm remote. his name is mike, goes under the name of xtensive on ztechz and zcontrol forum. realy top bloke. i doubt that they are one and the same as xtensive is canadian. dont think he visit this forum.if you vist the zcontrol site. look at some of the pictures and screen shots from his projects. the conzult connector is taken next to a set of keys to show how small his board layout realy is.
From what I can see, he just sells the unit but not the cable and connector???. I need a complete unit I can simply buy outright and connect between my laptop and my zed.Does zcontrol do this? Maybe I missed something but his "shop" just shows the PCB board ... I take your point about supporting the originators etc ... in only they sold a complete unit. I'd happily pay the extra...
consult connectors.... .....i will probably be getting a few of these custom made up in the next few weeks as am putting the finishing touches on my consult-control thing (see profile for pics)will post here when i get a price
No I,m not the creator I made my interface unit from the info on the Conzult web site. I only did the orig post to find out what others where up to . This is one great thing about this web site, there are a lot of people out there who are willing to share what they know to help others. Great idea :YD, who ever came up with it. And as for Ztalk, unfortunately it justs goes crazy x( then freezes when I try it with my Zed.
Re: No I,m not the creator I'm looking for (for a lack of of better words) Plug and play solution. Have the Zed have the laptop ... want the laptop to talk to the car.... ie. is there a complete (aftermarket) setup available... if you know what I mean..
