With all the 89 model zeds coming in, wont they depreciate in value dramatically? i have a 90 and a 91 model and i am afraid of the value going down. also i bought a zed because they werent as common as a skyline and it was something a bit different, and once again afraid of seeing them everywhere as more and more are popping up. Let me know what you thinkCheers.

The value is only a problem....

if you intend on selling it..:) But you're right, zed prices just keep depriciating but thats life I guess. Enjoy your zed, and dont let car values get you down.Cheers

    Exactly

But i'm glad the zed depreciated. I would never have been able to own such an awesome car otherwise. :-Z

    $80,000 to $10,000 in 10 yrs

I think this is just too much of depriciation. :N(
But that is the only way I could afford one. :YD

All cars depreciate up to a point

All you can do is minimise your loss unless you plan to have the car a while.I reckon it could be a good time to buy one and garage it.
This car is sure to become a collectable classic in 10-20 years.

Look on the bright side -

More Zeds = more Zed support, more Zed businesses, more Zed spare parts at reasonable prices, and most of all, more potential friends in the Zed community!I for one don't care if they become more common. We didn't buy a Zed 'cos it was rare - we bought a Zed because it represented an excellent vehicle at a bargain price. :-Z If you're worried about depreciation, keep your Zed standard, and keep it in excellent original condition. That's about the only way to keep its value at the upper end. Regarding Zed values, I'll bet there are a few long time Zed owners on the forum that paid in excess of $30k for their Zed, and I'll bet they don't mind that the majority on this forum paid ~$20k, and the 'newcomers' are only paying low teens - We're happy with what we bought, when we bought it. Mind you, a second Zed ....... Hmmmmm.........:YD

    I agree

Back in the 80,s you could pick up a very good 240Z very cheap. Try and find one now! Take a look at E-Type jag prices in the 70's... around $10,000. You won't get a good one now for under $70,000. A good z32 will appreciate in years to come.....it depends on if you can wait that long.

Its like house prices, buy now while they

are dirt cheap because down the track >10-15 years if anyone wants one all I can say is good luck. (Look at Mustangs & Shelby's)

  13. Enthusiasts are also masochists - money wise

The value reflects the utility of the vehicle. It is, as part of the whole market, just another car. Nobody has to recover the manufacturing cost, that was done long ago. The value tends to reduce to reflect the availability and cost of running it. Supply currently outstrips demand and the price falls. You think that's a problem? I have a 1974 Lamborghini Espada. New, it cost the equivalent of about $250,000. They are now worth about 30-40K. I know a guy who bought a RR Shadow for $30K. That's the cost of an engine rebuild.
Pay a fair market price, be happy with what you got for the money, and enjoy the car. Buying a Z is not a sensible decision if you are concerned about the cost. It's a specialist car in a tight demand market with plenty of cars available.
