Expressions of interest? Ideas perhaps?

Well, I'd post this under For Sale, but right now the site doesn't wanna play nice sooo...

My boyfriend peter, whose account this is, is thinking of selling his Z, simply cause it costs too much to run for the job his considering he's going to be a mobile computer technician. A twin turbo Z isn't the best run around car at any time, especially for that.

But at this time, he's still only thinking about it. But he wants to know how much he could get for it, and thinks you guys would be the best to tell him.

It's a 1990 TT, which has just had an engine with good compression fitted, as well as two rebuilt metal spindle turbos. It has a full stereo system including a Pioneer head unit, Kicker 6" in the front, 6.5" rear, and two 12" DLS Magnesium series subs (from memory that's correct). It's finished in metalflake silver with a veilside kit (no wing or tip at all).
Remember he's only considering it, and doesn't really want to part with her (neither do I :-Z ). Thanks for your help guys.
Pics are here. It's the bottom two pics, we do have more.

    $16k - $22k I suppose. Does the custom

paint job cause problems when it comes to insurance?

    IB ?????

    I disagree, I think it's the ....>>

ideal car for the job. It'll be part of his image.6 years of a twin turbo zed as a daily drivver and I still can't part with it.

Besides he'll always regret selling it, especially after he;s spent all the money getting it right.

What sort of car would he get for the same money that would be better for a Mobile Computer Tech?

    Yep...

It does. Being an 18 year old with a tt didn't bother the insurance companies, it was the paint that scares them. Even though he said if anything happened he'd rather have it sprayed something basic.

I would agree with your disagreement ...

I'm a mortgage broker. I travel to the office most days. That's a 120km round trip. And to client's homes which can be anything from a few kms away to 250km round trips. In a previous post I asked about fuel economy of the TT-Zed and the responses I got seem to indicate that the economy is better in the Zed than my RX-7 turbo.Sure, as a daily driver they may not good on the pocket, but as a tax deduction that sort of economy is sensational =) And then modifications...hmmm exhaust might be a bit old...replace with performance exhaust and claim as a deduction! I should be getting 70% of the costs of the Mazda back in my tax return. Nice =) Of course I could drive my Daihatsu for work. But it's a boring car and I walk straight past it and get into the RX-7 everyday. 70% of the costs of running the RX-7 is a lot more than 70% of the costs on the charade. I'm going to get it back in tax anyway, so I might aswell drive something comfortable, stylish and FAST!. It's killing me to sell it. But the TT-Zed on the horizon is really going to soften the blow.

    Well...

That's a good point, especially since he'll be able to claim petrol and wear and tear expenses (a portion anyway) on his tax.
He was thinking Skyline or something similar, because it's a lower litreage engine etc. Personally I'm not a fan of them, but it's still only a thought. The regret of selling it is something I'd worry about if he did sell it, he's really attached to it. He has a habit of buying cars, having problems, fixing them and selling them. He's finally seeing the light though, and realising that he's better keeping it if he's got it right. The main consideration is the fuel expense - maybe he should get a car specifically for the computer tech job, and use the Z to get to his night job, so it still gets a run but doesn't have to do the huge mileage =) I think that makes the most sense. Thanks guys,

Pick up a crappy car for

$2000 pay the $400 - $500 of rego every year. Now from memory he can ge a log book and if he fills thea log book out for 12 weeks, regarding of the percentage of private compared to bussiness use will dictate as to how much he can claim every year for petrol, tyres, service and the car cost itself. All he has to do is sustain him self for 12 weeks and only drive that car to work and back he should be able claim the maximum possible ammount.PS this is valid for 5 years from the logbook entries. Best thing would be to talk to an accountant. Oh and tell him NOT to sell his car!Good luck.
