Hi i need to get a understand of how much brake rotors are!I know they vary in range from the standard to sports, drilled, (the ones with the diagonal cuts in them) not sure what they are called.I have been told that for standard rotors - 120 each installed
(ones with diagonal cuts) - 190 installedand the rest i dont have a clue.I need to get them changed tomorrow, so if anyone could reply to this ASAP i would really appreciate it.Could i also have some description of why the more expensive ones are better. I dont know how they work. I would gather they are a better composition metal and also they are ventilated. Thanks

    Sorry to hijack your post

but How much is the price of GTR-R32 front rotor and caliper including pads? I swapped my standard one with this last week, and it bites stronger, before this, it was brake biased toward rear because of new rear tires and new EBC street kevlar at the back. I paid $120 labour for the swapBut when I reverse and then brake, it squeals like hell from the GTR brakes :s . Is this OK? No squealing from normal (forward) braking.

    Ummmmm......

if I read your post correctly, you said you have EBC street kevlars on the back???? Well, I have them on the front and they squal when I brake. They stop good, but squeal a little. Seem to be getting better though.

    Yes

I have street kevlar at the back, but they never squeal. The squeal comes since I swap with the GTR brakes up front. Only in reverse. Rotor seems to be in good condition.

I did some research on rotors.I have heard from many poeple thatCross Drilled & Slotted rotors are not very good, i have been told that they are more prone to damage. They need about 10minutes of slight braking to warm them up. Cause if you slam the brakes when they are cold you can fracture the rotor.Cross Drilled - Are not very good either for the same readon as above.Slotted Rotors - have been given the thumbs up by many people. Very efficient, great braking, no need to warm them up as such. And they are priced much less.
Lowest Prices I Got: I need to find out the brand!Standard - $100 each (28mm thick)
    Sloted - $160 each (28mm thick)
    Cross Drilled & Slotted - $220 each (28mm thick)
    Heres something funny,
Actual Nissan Dealer in dandenong quoted me $310 each for standard rotors!Autobarn:
    Not sure about the thicknes!
    Std - $175
    Cross Drilled - $300
    Slotted - $250
Quite a difference in prices. Can anyone comment on these prices?

Well from ebay in the states you can get...

4 brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors, including postage, for $398 Australian. So less than $100 per rotor for brembo cross drilled and slotted.I'm getting postage via sea which I was quoted $80US takes about 4-8 weeks, but I'm in no hurry, better than $220US via air. This seller is good, doesn't inflate shipping rates.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2476123734&category=33564

    A while back i was quoted $500 a set

of sports rotors from Online Performance Autos (www.onautos.com.au), dont know if that price is still the same, you could ring/email and check. I think their sports rotors are just slotted ones.Cheers

    They will still crack eventually

all the cross drilled ones crack if driven hard, apart from the proper race ones that are cast with the holes in them. Better off getting slotted ones, cheap cross drilled rotors are for looks only.

    are you calling brembo cheap?

these may be a cheap price but they are still brembo... i would think the quality would be pretty good.might crack, might not... but they are the best value rotors I can find.

    Egg ....

    They are cheap!

    That's a great price.
Brembo blanks aren't cheap or nasty, if they've been drilled properly I doubt they'll crack like DBA's or other real cheap rotors. Especially on the street.
Though I do believe the quality of Brembo is dropping off now they've sold their soul. :)
They'll be fine, doubt they'll crack from moderate to even extreme use.
    Cheers,

    moderate use will be ok

extreme use as in racing - forget it. They may be Brembo but they are nowhere near the quality of the brembos they put on porsches. I dont consider them 'proper' Brembos. Something without the cross drilling is still a better bet in my opinion at this price range.

I thought Brembo's were one of the

few companies that actually cast all their cross-drilled rotors?and any idea where I can get the porsche quality rotors?
