    You've most likely got a virus ...

Go to TrendMicro and get a free online scan. That should pick it up and disinfect your system. Then install Adaware from Lavasoft which will help stop associated Adware from slowwing your OS in future. The unfortunate fact is that many porn related sites have malicious code that tries to install 'malware' on your computer. A free firewall from Sygate will also help. Although XP has it's own inbuilt firewall, the sygate one is more bulletproof.

All these tools are free. Good luck!:-0

I had the same prob many years ago...

with a work computer. I simply blocked it via my security settings, it was fine after that. It just means our (cough) friends can't look up porn anymore!

    Or...

    Do not use IE, ever.
It has the most security flaws out of any browser. I know i may be an anoying change but try netscape or firefox or a similar mozilla browser. It is the safest way to go. I built A system for a client, 2 days later it had so many spyware programs installed it was ridiculas.

the Zonealarm firewall is excellent !!!

www.zonelabs.com - It's free and highly recommended. Of course you can pay and gets Zonealarm PRO with more features, but I've been using Zonealarm for years now and it is a great firewall. I agree on using adaware from lavasoft to remove ads and spyware - also very good - link: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ . You can also use Spywareblaster to protect against infection - link - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html also free. And subscribe (pay) for a good virus checker - Nortons etc - I use CA's EZ Antivirus, but there are a lot of good ones.
