Part of the reason that there is "no-one>

in sight", could be because at 3am, it is dark and harder to see details like people. :| :| Cheers

i dont get it.....

if i made a video of racing around moutains/twisted roads obviously speeding hardcore crossing double lines etc and called it "WA ZEDDERS" You'ld all say how good it is and well done. But if someone mentions doing it, they get shot down.btw im not having a go at the WA guys, they prolly drive like most guys on this forum, they just dont mind showing it ;)

never said that :)

i never said nothing would ever happen to me, im on about street racing in a way that you cant injure anyone exept yourself, if someones going to race on streets, they know the risks, if they kill themselves, ditto. its when innocent people get killed by this is what pisses me off, in 'my opinion' if you can find a stretch of road to drag and can only injure yourself, have fun. you know the risks, just dont put anyone elses life in danger.

Have a look at this

Click HereThis is where stupid behaviour on the road can end up. Also note that there is talk about trying to find a new way to stop young drivers having performance cars.Perhaps it might save some lives if some drivers were taken to an accident scene to see a body cut out from wreckage and body parts cleaned off a road, maybe this might encourage some common sense from them.Hope no one here ends up like that.RegardsMark

Me and my big trap :p

I seem to be always starting the Sh#t fights roun here :D, no the soarer wasn't stock, but all I could see was an exhaust upgrade, and it seemed to have induction roar (pod), but of course without looking under the hood, or talking to the driver I Can't be sure, apart from the exhaust, but all mine has so far is the pod.Sorry woody, I ain't your man, my Z's body is completly stock for now, and no BOVs yet, and if I die..... bleh I'm gonna die anyway, just a matter of time, be it 80-90 yrs old in my sleep, or tommorow hit by a truck, sometimes you have to live dangerously, to live ;) its losing my license that really scares me, don't tell me your all saints, and never explore the loud pedal when you shouden't :pOh if you want photos to try scare racers with, I gotta bunch from Rotten, none of this wussy censored news report stuff, most amazing thing I have seen is someones face ripped completly off, and sitting on the road... OW!At least I know to keep my stories secret, (or post on TT.net and lap up the praise) I was just over excited, since they were my first 2 drags EVER, I was a drag virgin before them, I am going to try avoid the frying pan for now :p :p :p

Sorry I thought...>>

It took at least 2 people to have a drag race?So your saying now that if you blow a front tyre and smash into the other driver, taking him out and killing him then its ok because it was his choice to race? Im sure that would make his family and yours feel a lot better. While your sitting in jail for 5 years for vehicular manslaughter Im glad at least you wouldnt have that on your conscience.Im not having a go at you personally quick1, it just frustrates me that people dont look at the bigger picture. Fine it may be a 1 in a 1000 chance of happening but gee they are some terrible consequences.

On that cruise...

the only time people were really going over the limit was when we were literally in the middle of nowhere. The road was open and straight and you could see far ahead. No one was racing, so there were no 2 cars occupying close space, thats a lot different from a street race. I dont agree with the speeds some of the guys got to either (in excess of 200km/h *you know who you are :p*) and I cetainly didnt go anywhere near that. If they asked me what I thought of them speeding I would tell them the same thing Ive been telling you.
In the vid itself, nowhere on it are people speeding, those are 110km/h roads, so you cant say it promotes that sort of behaviour.

In fairness to Zisluv >>

He never actually speed on the cruise (well, i never really saw you speed).... infact, he made other people slow down coz he was doing the speed limit.... i think Franz and me were a good KM off the cruise at one stage! :pDont get me wrong, i sped on the cruise, and i dont have a problem with dragging on the street (under certain circumstances)..... but, you cant really use that vid against Zisluv, coz he drove like an old tart! :p hehehe j/k

Drag strip is divided...

plus you have maintained track (no oil, potholes, dogs running out etc). Also there are emergency services personal ready to help if something should happen, unlike on a street in the middle of the night.

Speak to someone who's luck ran out.Photos

have lost their shock value we've all seen to many.
I don't get involved in these discussions as a rule because they acheive little, but recently I had an opportunity to visit a state prison and heard a few inmates tell their story.
One bloke was in for six years for the results of a 3.00am drag race.He was a lawyer, and had just bought his first Porche, crusing home one night on a stretch of freeway not another car in sight till out of nowhere an sti appears beside him and begins indicating that a drag was on.The lawyer by his own admission was always a bit of a "nerd"
and had never thought street dragging a responsible pastime but thought it a good opportunity to try out his new toy.so floored it at 150kmh he had managed to edge in front of the Subaru and was just congratulating him self when suddenly in front of him was a vehicle with no lights on, he hit the the vehicle with enough force to send it across the median strip through a row of trees and into the path of a semi.A blood alch test showed that the driver of the unlit vehilcle was at .16 so probably died relativley painlessly but the lawyer got six years, prison and a life sentence of guilt.Another inmate quipped that if he had'nt been a lawyer he probably would have been in for life.I was hit by how easily an average law abiding citizen can have their life totally stuffed by one momentary lapse.
More of these sort of people should tell their stories.

let me get 1 thing clear......

i just want you to know, i dont think street racing is 'safe', i just think its OK to do if there's only yourself that you can injure. yes its still very dangerous, but if all you can do is harm yourself, i think its differant.that story is a real eye opener jenzx, amazing how a 10 second drag ruined his life.

There are NO dragstrips >>>

with centre dividing barriers, anywhere, other than for the first 60 feet or so up to and just beyond the Christmas tree. This is best displayed in the pic below:

[image]http://users.tpg.com.au/whwitt/tintops/images/142-4277_IMG_jpg.jpg[/image]Or CLICK ME for a little demo of what can go wrong, even on a drag strip ... you Sandgropers may recognise the environment =).

To have such a division going beyond the tree would give a car that did get out of control less room to move. That said, in any form of controlled legal drag racing, it is in offence resulting in immediate disqualification if the cars tyres even touch the centre line.

The other points made are all valid - no pedestrians, only 1 other car on the road, ambulance in attendance etc etc etc.

Keep it off the streets (and no, I'm not Mr Perfect, and yes I do have a past ummmmm Scarboro Beach Car Park - before most of you young 'uns were even twinkles!)

Quickie, >>>

I bet when that driver started his fun, he didn't think there was anyone else he could harm ..... he couldn't see the car ahead with its lights out.

You're missing the point of an accident

and that is, it's an ACCIDENT.... as in, the unexpected happenned, no one plans to have a crash. So, you may THINK you're doing something safe, until all of a sudden something unexpected pops up, and all of a sudden you realize you're going too fast to stop, avoid, or whatever.Ben
