The brake light warning lamp in the dash had been intermittently coming on for a few weeks. I read about the brake/tailight sensor and had unplugged and checked the connections. This worked for a few hours and sometimes days but eventually the light came on again. Numerous people had waved me down and told me the brakelights had gone, and so today i decided to bypass it.

Hers the culprit. It's in the right rear quarter panel next to the tailight. Yes i hacked into it to see if i could fix it. :( i couldn't.

I removed the sensor and cut off the plug. Here is the wires that need bridging once the plug is removed.

Here is the wires connected and ready to be soldered. Notice that 2 wires need to be left seperated as they send the brake light signal to the dash.

Once you've soldered them just tape them up with electrical tape and your done. No more annoying brakelight warning lamp. :)

The same happened to mine a while back.
If you can get into the black connector box its usually a terminal on the circuit board that has vibrated loose over the years, as in the photo above. Quick re solder of the joint and your good to go.
