Is there an easy to do this? Engine out? Drop subframe? I need to replace the transmission anyway, so it it possible to slide it back or will it immediately catch on the bottom end & oil pickup etc. How much more of a pain in the bum will this be compared to say; stock plenum pull?
When you say engine out... do you mean: lift the engine 6 inches while leaving most things still connected to give just enough room to slide the sump out? Or you you mean: engine out completely? If so, I doubt I could get that done by myself in 2 weeks :/ (Event on 2nd December).
Dumb question time, why do you need to take the sump off? Normal reason is that you've put a hole in it....
been so waiting for someone to say "undo the bolts" but since they have not I will that said - If you dont want to remove the engine then Chrispy is on the mark. - welcome to the world of Z's if you dont have to remove the -insert major component here- then you are not really working on it....... Heater core, Dash out - pretty much anything in the engine bay, engine out..... you get the idea
I had my dipstick end snap off in my oil pan... Had to lift the engine again to get the pan off. I find lifting the engine easier than dropping the subframe, all you need is jackstands and an engine crane this way. Definitely have to get the engine all the way out, screw trying to do it up while still hovering in the engine bay. Also have to remove the girdle bracket things either side that bolt to the engine and trans. They get in the way of removing the pan.
