i really really hope you spend the money on getting them wider guards done. change your suspension just to fit the 20's then get defected so you end up putting legal wheels back on and have the shittest look and offset on your rice mobile :br:

While I agree with your sentiment Chili I also think that having 20's (if one chooses to) should not be a defect issue if they are not mechanically contacting anything they should not. That is if they clear all the bodywork and the centre line of the wheel (and thus the loading on the bearings) is within stock parameters then why cant someone put 20's on there car that comes factory with 16's or 17's. personally its a load of crap all thes things that are deemed unsafe here and are done with no world ending consequences prettymuch anywhere else ion the world. Point is a cop turning a blind eye for wheel sizes or a mechanic passing cars with illegal wheel sizes that are safe is not something I am really going to worry about in the grand scheme of things. This all said I have to agree I am not a fan of 20's but I am less a fan of everyone giving someone hate for liking something others dont. Was not trying to teach you anything merely stating my belief on the subject. But yes it was directed at your comment - short of it is in essence I agree with the sentiment but I dont believe rims that are more than 2" larger in diameter actually constitute a viable defect and perhaps are the exception to this rule (the rule of Vehicle mods etc not teaching grandpa to suck eggs).

I would suggest, that the REAL issue regarding "Legal" Rim/Tyre combinations, centres on NOT altering the Rolling Diameter of the final combination by ANY significant amount(due to the inevitable error in Speedo Readings, that will accompany such alteration). There are all sorts of possible issues/scenarios that can/may occur with varying degrees of likelihood(most of which involve "liability/Safety"/Legality)rather than practicality.:zlove::br:
+ the likely increased unsprung weight which can cause higher stresses and changes to vehicle dynamics which the manufacturer has not designed components for.
