Hey guys, I just installed a later model ECU into my Z and though everything is working so far, I just noticed the potentiometer you turn to check error codes is pointing all the way down. My old ECU has it pointing all the way up. I have looked up some info on which mode this is set to and I think its set to Mode II (diagnostic mode). Am I correct?
If later model ecu's work like earlier ones you should be able to tell which mode the ecu is in by turning the key on the car to accessories. If the check engine light does not show then you are in diagnostic mode.
Thanks col ill look to see if i see the engine check light illuminates or not during startup. Compared to my old ecu the potentiometer was in the opposite position which is why im asking. Not sure which one was in the correct position now lol.
Adam I'm not sure if you have come across the below link, but it says how to get into diagnostics mode which could be a way to figure it out https://z32.wikispaces.com/ECU+Diagnostics
I have already looked at the site plus another but all it still doesnt really answer my question is the ecu set to normal or diagnostic mode. I dont need to check codes or anything, i just dont know which setting is for normal driving. So far cols suggestion about the engine check light coming on looks like the ecu is set in normal mode as im pretty sure it never came on with my old ecu installed.
