The new LSA (?) supercharged V8 Commodore engine. How similar in dimensions/gearbox bolt pattern etc is it to an LS1. Just entertaining the crazy idea of one in a Z now that LS1 fitment kits are available and tried and proven.

    Any ideas?

Different dimensions and taller engine as top mount charger.

You can make anything fit with enough money and work but

Personally I'd rather a TT LSX but meh

You're asking in the wrong forum.

HSV had a hard enough time fitting the LSA, its gearbox and rear axle in the VF. Putting one in a Z32 would not be a simple operation.

But to answer your question, the good news is LS3 and LSA share bellhousing bolt patterns. The bad news is the LSA generates a shitload of torque and GM only recommends either the T56 Magnum or TR6060 MG9 be used with it (that's for manuals. I don't care about automatics, so you can look that up yourself). Both are beefed-up versions of the regular T56 and TR6060, so don't use the regular ones unless you like picking gear shrapnel out of your left thigh.

Oh, and best of luck with the cooling package. The HSV GTS has eight heat exchangers, which is three more than what's in a TT Z32 manual.

But if you've got deep pockets and are actually serious about this idea, GM is nice enough to give you all the information you need to make this a reality. Set aside an afternoon and go through this site: http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines.html

I'm more surprise that Chevy make new engines with carbies :p

Yeah, I was disappointed in that too, guessing it's because the engine's primary market is circle racing.

If you were that serious you'd just turf the glass in the rear hatch, fill the reasonably useless boot area with the extra required coolers, make a rear firewall and have some plexiglass made up with appropriate ducting to the coolers.
