I'm trying to finish up the roadworthy on my car, but I can't find the plate with the month of manufacture. It's an 89 TT 2+2, imported from Japan. Does anyone know how to find it?

    Thanks

    WhiteNight Littering and...

It was left in a japan scrap heap when they welded the 2 halves of your car back together and sold it to you.

:) nah jks, check the firewall in the middle if you cant see it in plain view. Sometimes its stamped over there.

Look in the tech section A-Z Vin numbers

Find the VIN number and compare to the table in http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/300ZX_CHASSIS_NUMBERS.pdf

Even easier way.... assuming the front seatbelts are original.... there should be a tag on them down the bottom. I'm at work so can't double check but i believe the month/year are on the tag.

Correct me if I'm wrong pros

    red32 You talkin' to me?

You're absolutely right, Babbb. My Aus-spec's belts are dated Jan 1990 and the Nissan (Aust) compliance plate is marked 4/90. So you will get a good approximate date from the belt.

PM me your vin number and I'll look it up on the nissan FAST database if you want.

The one that is formatted like GCZ32-5XXXXX

Yeah but my seatbelt tag says that my cars an 89 model when the cover on the tailights say its a 90 model. I think the stamping on the parts just tells you when the parts were made, not neccesarily when the car was finished and stamped. My Vin stamp says its a 90 model.

    thanks guys, the VIN is:
    6U9000 GCZ32 508385
From the list I think that means it's December 89.
    Can anyone confirm this?

By the way, my seatbelts say 2005... I wish the car was that new

Agree with Rob, post your VIN & it can be decoded through the Nissan FAST program.

The VIN can be found on the aluminium plate attached to the radiator support panel under the hood, or stamped into the firewall at the rear of the engine.

As an example let's look at lonnie's VIN GCZ32-508385.

    G: 2+2
    C: Twin Turbo
    Z32: Model Series
    508385: Individual Vehicle Number

Nissan FAST tells us the following.

    The Model Number: KRGZ32JSBHE6
Month & Year of manufacture: 12/1989
    Paint Code: AG2
    Interior Trim Code: G
    Roof Style: Targa Top
    Engine: VG30DTT (Twin Turbo)
    Seating: 4 Seater (2+2)
    Grade or Trim Level: Standard
    Transmission type: Manual

The model number can also be decoded to identify what options were fitted to the vehicle at the factory.
It cannot identify all the options that may have been fitted, as some were fitted at dealerships.
