Where is the IAT (Inlet Air Temp sensor) on a 1993 300zx? Is it in the air flow metre box thingy?

Sort of, no actual intake temp sensor. You didn't buy one of those dodgy ebay +15hp module things did you?

integrated into the air flow meter.

    Hmmmm

Bought an aftermarket piggy back chip just to hook up to up the air / fuel mixture by 2% on the ECU, spose to add about 9 - 15hp odd,, says to connect to the 2 signal wires? (on the IAT) Not the power wires but how the hell am I spose to do this if its inside that >.<

you cant. the ecu uses a AFM which doesnt need a separate iat sensor like MAP sensor cars. So you cant use it. If its one of those ebay piggy back chips (i.e crappy resistor) - then just throw it in the bin.

no such thing unless u are using a different aftermarket ecu. such as microtech and power fc... u got conned!!

    Hmmm

Hmmm must be the coolant temperature sensor then

Dont change the coolant temp sensor signal. That is not good.

Get to know your car before you go out buying shit before knowing whether you can fit it or not

just get your ecu remapped. Best thing about the zeds :D big power upgrade without changing ECUs

Sorry to see so many people against adding a low-cost chip to a 25 year old car. Used the site for quite a while and saw so many negative comments I decided it was finally time to register and maybe even add something helpful. I will agree that the aren't ever as amazing as advertised, but that's why "up to" is used. I have a stock N/A vg30de in mine and the Innovative chip has been fairly decent thus far. No noticeable HP gain on my high mileage engine, but a LOT more rpm's before I can actually feel the my power range plummet. A fun spot where I usually get close to 180, I'm now right @ 200kph after having this chip on for a couple of days.

On the Z32's, instead of using the signal+/- on the AFM, you use the ECT per the manufacturer of my chip. I haven't checked fuel consumption yet, but I'm still impressed since it's just the freakin' water temp. As for not needing improvement on the ECU at all... sorry, but even the best "dynamic" idea from the 90's can obviously be improved upon now. Still, I agree they aren't in any way miracle workers, though still a lot of affordable fun. Originally purchased mine to test with my new HHO setup and already enjoyed before even completing the stupid generators!!!

if a simple resistor on your coolant temp sensor is making your car "run better" then it needs some mainantance - its akin to using a resistor to bypass the Det sensor and get you out of safety boost, it is covering a fault that is causing issues. tuning a car is not done with blanket mods - one may just as well advance the timing "till she pings then back it off a bit" yes there may be a gain (may) but why is more important. one can also insert generic ecu chips and get a gain but what they dont realise is the damage that may be happening in the background.
Does the manufactorer guarantee that no damage will occurr as a result of this chip or is there a disclaimer (use at your own risk).

Again not saying it has not worked on someones car but I imagine that car needed some work done anyway. most do

This confused me greatly. Anything that tricks the ecu based on CTS is rubbish. Until the car is up to temp the ecu says to use more fuel. Typically stock nissan tunes are very rich so adding more is bad.

    Placebo is awesome.

I just had a look at the Innovative website.

Funny thing if you type "Innovative Chip" into Google the second hit on the list is the video below. Pretty much sums it up...
