Gday Folks, I have just purchased a set of these. I am currently looking at collars/adapters to fit them into a s1 rail however COZ is telling me that none of the adapters fit and that no one made them for these injectors. My only option is a new rail... is this true? My research tells me otherwise. Any recommendations on where to get them would be great if I can
Oddly enough SARD make adapters. These can still be purchased for $65ea and shipped from Japan -if you're desperate shoot me a PM and I can organise to supply them for you. You may be able to find them second hand. In the past they have been available from Hi-Octane in Sydney and while they're no longer advertised it may be worth giving them a call 02 9638 4643 Ultimately you may decide that a new fuel rail is the more economical choice, or you could cut your losses and (depending on your CC needs) purchase a set of Nismo or similar injectors. Nismo series 1 555 injectors will drop into your series 1 fuel rail, or Nismo series 2 740cc injectors can be installed in your existing rail using a kit that is available from czp.
Thanks Rob, so its only the 850cc Sards that are a pain to fit? Any thoughts on how these injectors perform? Might be worth getting rid of them if this is going to be a pain. Car is going on E85 so I need the size... Would collars from an RB25 work? I might be able to get them..
Most universal style injectors are going to need some kind of adapter to fit the oem rail. In this case it's just the availability (or lack of) of reasonably priced adapters that's holding you up. $390 plus freight ex Japan seems a lot to pay on top of the injectors, but I suppose it depends on the bottom line. For comparison sake an adapter kit to fit nismo 740cc injectors in your fuel rail is $99USD, or $120USD with harness plugs. Do you have injector harness plugs to suit the sards? If the adapters can be sourced for a reasonable price then the sards become a more attractive option. What size turbos? The sard are probably as large an injector as you can fit in side feed configuration. Beyond that you need top feed rails and things do start to get expensive, although the results are very good. No, they are a different part.
Ok so i can get you a set of collars from a local supplier for $125. They only have one set left so inbox me soonish if you want them
Didn't realise you can actually adapt them to the S1 rail, will still need to splice S2 connectors on the S1 EFI loom for the SARDs.
Just re-read the heading. SARD 800s fit series 1 rail but require an adapter collar and oval connectors. SARD 850s are used in Toyota applications.
What colour are the injectors? if they are indeed 850s, they may be SR20 side feeds which are a maroon / brown colour. If I'm not mistaken SR20 injectors will drop directly into the S2 rail. If they are 300ZX side feeds they don't come in 850s and the 800s are a poo brown colour.
The easiest way to tell is ..... The 800's are twin spray injectors The 850's are single spray injectors
Thanks for all the help gents. I am wondering now if the 850 single spray jobs are the best injector. Seems like maybe going nismo 740's or top feed could be a better option. I am not chasing big power, just keen to get the car on the corn juice after seeing some really positive stuff here recently on stock turbo's. I do have a questions though around cylinder #6. I hear that this heats up quite significantly with more boost. Seeing as E85 runs cooler, could this be a saviour for that cylinder? A lil more power and reliability are what I am after from the conversion....
